Refunding the buyer more than the actual transaction was?

My buyer paid $25.00 for an item. Even though I do not accept returns, I agreed to let him return a hat.  He paid for the shipping back to me.  The system won’t let me refund the $32.69.  Its only letting me put in the $25.00.  Does anyone have a clue how to make this work?  I’ve read every article I can find.  I can’t get this to budge.

thanks for any help,

Yzguy

Thank you so much. I was just pulling up PayPal when you sent that.  I think that will work!

You can't refund more than the transaction amount, which was $25 with Free Shipping. You'll have to get the buyer's email (which is allowed following a transaction) and refund by sending additional monies through PayPal.

You will have to refund the difference as a separate transaction thru paypal.   Use the paypal mode for sending money to friends & family.
