So I recently sold a coffee pot that I bought on Amazon for $165, I sold it for $85. Anyhow, it was brand spanking new from the manufacturer, I purchased it as a bridal gift however didn’t realize someone else had purchased it and I missed the return date. I notated on there that my nephew had tore the box and so I had simply transferred it into a different version of the coffee pot, Which was the box from my coffee pot I owned, And a cheaper version. Anyhow, I FULLY inspected the item and I took pictures from numerous angles. The item was still wrapped in all the original manufacturers Styrofoam, Secured very well, etc.… So I get an email from the person who purchased it stating that there’s some part on the water reservoir that slides open, but it was broken. The person continues to say that he had put some duct tape on it and managed to fix it. He asked if he could get a discount since it was broken also asks if he could return it later down the line. Now, what would you guys do in the situation because to me it makes no sense that I would take back a brand new coffee pot and give someone a refund after they used it. Why wouldn’t this person message me right when he opened the product and Claimed that there was a broken piece. Why would you message me saying that I managed to fix it with duct tape, Can I get a discount? Can I return it later down the line? 🤦🏻♀️ I’m a very honest person and I’ve given people refunds and I’ve told them to keep the item. But I feel in this case this person is trying to pull a scam. I know very well There was nothing wrong with the coffee pot. I swear I had a weird feeling and was going to take it down last minute. I also liked it a lot lol. But before I could do that, it was purchased. And that was the last item I decided to sell on eBay anyways. But that’s besides the point. if you go and click on the pot I sold you will see the pictures that I uploaded and I transferred it into another box. I’m just wondering if they’re trying to advantage Of the fact that I notated I transferred it into another version of that Mr. coffee maker box. I’ll upload the pictures he sent me. It looks to me like he broke it himself.

Just be aware that if the buyer opens a not as described case, he will win. So be sure to respond to the case with a return label, and refund after return. Also know that Ebay will not return his funds from your pending funds, but from your payment source.Otherwise, Ebay will refund him,and let him keep the coffee pot.

Your choices:
Refund in full and let them keep it for free
Issue a paid return label and refund in full when you get it back
Give a part refund
If they file a case, eBay will choose the first one for you. I would go for number three.

You sure sell a lot of coffee pots.
This last one you sold as well as some others say
****If you do not receive the product as described, you will get a full refund and you do not have to send the item back.
If they will accept a discount for it being broken I may would offer the discount and tell them, no they can not return it latter if they accept the discount. But do it through eBay as a partial refund.
