I bought a google fold from itsworthmore on the app and after a week i noticed a line on the inner screen that wouldnt go away. After a few days it didnt go away so i asked for a replacement. They said i had to send the phone to them so i decided on a refund. I sent the phone back and I st received a refund for half of what i spent on the phone and this seller doesnt even have the common courtesy to explain their actions. I feel like ive been robbed for $460 and i dont know why or what recourse i have. Trying to talk to a real person at eBay is impossible. If anyone has any ideas ir assistance it would be appreciated. I would definitely say beware of sellers who employ these practices.

Sellers like these improperly claim the same reason that you claim: You returned it for a refund
-- because the phone was defective.
Then the seller misused eBay policy to withhold 50% of the refund
-- because the phone was defective.
Now @jenak21 you can either
1. click the Ask eBay to step in button in your refund summary
-- for eBay to pay the other 50% of your refund, or
2. open another return request here, or file a chargeback with your card issuer
-- for your seller to pay the other 50% of your refund, pay all eBay fees, and pay a $20 fine.

Thank you very much for your response, i knew there was some "loophole" that sellers would exploit and useit to their advantage. It had to be since i did nothing to the phone but use it like normal. Thats why i was so surprised by this. I am definitely following up with this with eBay because that is alot of money to be taken from me.

On your refund page @jenak21 you'll see a button to ask eBay to step in.
But if eBay grants it, your refund will come from eBay, while the seller keeps that 50% robbed from your payment. So if the ask eBay to step in doesn't work out, definitely go to your payment source to correctly get that stolen money back from actually the seller themselves.
