Bought a lamp which didn't work. Seller sent Hermes return label. Where I live there are no drop of shops. Local courier tried to pick up parcel on 5th Nov but I was out. Parcel was collected on Wednesday 10th Nov. According to tracking parcel has not been colected. Seller contacted me at beginning of week to say she hadn't received return. I managed to speak to someone at Hermes this morning. They are going to check with courier to see when it was collected from Inverness. I was told to wait 48 hours before checking tracking system again. If it doesn't show then a claim for missing parcel would need to be done.
Seller has contacted Ebay to step in.
Would it be Seller who would make claim against Hermes. Where does this leave with regards to refund.

This is the US site so it might work differently on the UK site but according to the MBG here, if the seller is the one that provided the label and the item gets lost, they still have to refund if you can show through tracking that the item was sent back to them. They would have to put in a claim for insurance...not you.
Buyers are usually told to send an item back by a specific date...was your item picked up and scanned by that date?

I don't even mess with shipping returns. If the buyer provides legitimate reasons for item not as described I immediately issue a refund. Dunno how it makes sense for a buyer to send a broken lamp back at the expense of the seller. I tried to tell a buyer to not return please and keep or recycle the items. They preferred to return. When I received the return I immediately trashed them even though one of the speakers was working perfectly and I'm out $20 for the return shipping. It's hard to ship parts of speakers without damage during shipment. Still working on it.
