Has anyone on eBay had problems with getting a credit for return postage that you had to pay for, out of pocket? I have bee trying for over a month now to get a credit for a return I had to pay for, out of pocket, and keep getting the runaround from eBay.

I see 'Free Returns' on your listings. I don't think you'll be able to avoid return shipping costs.

I am unclear whether you are talking about something you returned to a seller or something a buyer returned to you. If the former, why would you be expecting reimbursement from eBay.
If the latter and you have free returns, why would you be expecting reimbursement from eBay

If you paid to return an item, you don't get that back.
If the seller was suppose to pay return shipping, you get it before you return it.

Hi @lincolnking
Buyers are supposed to wait for either a prepaid shipping label OR return shipping money (from foreign seller) BEFORE returning an item.
If they don’t receive either of the above within 3 business days of filing a return request … then they go back to the open request and ask eBay to step in and help.
If the buyer purchases their own return shipping for some reason … they’re not likely to be reimbursed for the return postage.
Why did you pay return shipping?

eBay orvided a 1st class label & the packaged weighed 14 lbs. Post office only ships 16 to 17 ozs on 1st class.

Those are special First Class Mail labels … good for returning items weighing up to 70 pounds.
I’m very sorry you weren’t aware of that. Others have been confused as well. ☹️

You are supposed to use the shipping label from the seller. If the seller is out of the USA, they can't issue you a shipping label but they could have sent you the money to pay for the return. ONly the seller can give you that credit for the return. Why would ebay compensate you for a return? The only thing that you can do is appeal to the seller again. Otherwise, do NOT buy anything from a non-US seller since it's impossible for them to issue a return shipping label.

eBay provided a "Return Service" label.
Did your Post Office reject that shipment? If so it is my understanding that they were in error.
I sent back a package that greatly exceeded the 15.99 ounce First Class shipping weight limit because it is a different "service". Accepted, scanned, returned, no problem.

According to my post office they are only good for 17 or 18 ozs.

These are fairly new return shipping labels … used maybe 1-2 years … and some local post offices have to be educated about them.
If your PO refuses to accept them … you might have to drive to a different branch in this situation.
Your PO is way off base if they’ve told you ‘17 or 18 ounces’. NO First Class Mail option has that limit.
FCM labels you purchase online have a limit of 15.99oz.
FCM labels you purchase at the PO have a limit of 13oz.
Anyway, at least you know why you haven’t been reimbursed for return shipping: you failed to use the valid, free label that eBay provided. I’m sorry this happened.
