I received a damaged item shipped through GSP, filed a case and provided photos
eBay first told me it was closed in my favor and I'll receive a refund but a few days later they say I have to return it to seller because "its a high value item"
I made sure to highlight it was shipping damage
I thought in these cases the Seller is not involved because GSP damaged the item during shipping
Any thoughts?

GSP damaged the item during shipping
When an item arrives safely @tryno2 at the Global Shipping Center, but then is damaged in transit during its second leg to the buyer, eBay's third-party shipper Pitney Bowes pays for the damaged item, no return needed.

I haven't had a chance to upload picture of the box being damaged if that could help the case
If you @haneousbrian still need to upload picture of the box being damaged when you have a chance, even though you've already filed a case and provided photos, you can contact eBay twitter again, and give eBay twitter your picture of the box being damaged for eBay twitter to add to the case again for you.
Your seller should not be paying for the damaged-by-GSP return, and GSP must cover the refund.

Have you received the refund? Did GSP provide a return label or an address? How would you know where to send it?

No refund issued yet
support just said seller will have to issue return label within 5 days

Seller asked for my address to create the return label so I guess eBay GSP blaming the Seller
I've tried to contact eBay twitter and they said I will be issued a refund in 48h but it needs to pass audit

I guess I should wait till I find out something from eBay team?

If it's damaged why wouldn't you be willing to return it, if the buyer is paying for the return? I'm not pointing a finger at you but this is about how a fake damage claim would go. Buyer claims damage, gets a refund and keeps the damaged item. Pretty slick deal when it's pulled off right.

Alright then you explain why the buyer is being told to return it.
