You are NOT unique. My experiences are that Ebay gives a buyer an optimistic delivery ETa that you will probably like that has little if anything to do with what will actually happen . When that ETA is missed Ebay just assigns another one a few days out. When it finally arrives the buyer then finds out what ETA Ebay is holding the seller to based on THEIR handling time, which usually has nothing to do with what Ebay has told the buyer and is still several days hence! This practice is freqent, deceitful, misleading and intentional in my opinion. If Ebay told you the truth about a seller's handling time and when to actually expect your purchase to arrive, you probably would look elsewhere or not buy at all. They even no longer publish in shipping details of a listing what the Seller has stated as a handling time to further deceive buyers! Ebay seemingly has no integrity or cares about that detail. They tell you something you like to hear, not what is the truth. They should run a school for aspiring politicians.

Where are you seeing this delivery date? If you are looking at the current listing for the item, of course it changes every day. You have to look at the item in your purchase history. Once the item is paid for, the delivery date is fixed and cannot be changed.

Maybe my case is unique, but the delivery dates in my purchase history change with each carrier scan and even when leaving seller feedback, the date that eBay shows as its estimated arrival (did this item arrive on time?) is different from what the order details show. In fact, the date shown in the order details is the only one that I haven't seen change regularly.

It seems you ordered something from overseas. Multi carriers causes change of dates of delivery
COVID is still at it and interruptions are very common depending on Seller's base country. You can't open an 'item not received' case. eBay is very lenient on packages being scanned every few days
You'll receive the package soon, and I hope

I've seen similar comments from others too even though the order detail date used to stay the same. There must be one place where the original delivery date can be seen? I haven't purchased anything lately so can't check for myself but I wonder if anyone know where that would be.

I just heard from the vendor who told me that he was out with the virus and didn't know he made the sale. There is no way that I could be upset at someone who is fighting for his life. I told him to just put in priority mail so we know that it is insured and is trackable. He asked me not to write a bad feed back, even if I were allowed to do it, I wouldn't do it. I told he to just send it priority mail so that we know that it is insured. I advised him that four (4) weeks ago I purchased an identical item from anther vendor and it got chewed up in the mail and the vendor had to refund my money.
Your never know what is going to happen in this world and you just have to be happay with the opportunity that God gives you.
Best Regards,
Bob

I cut and pasted the updates from an actual order of mine to show you the Ebay lies at work:
From the leave feedback screen:
Did this item arrive on time?
Estimated delivery date: Sat, Nov 06
From order info on my summary page and my purchase history:
Oct 22, 2021
Estimated delivery Thu, Oct 28 - Sat, Oct 30
Tracking number: Tracking number1Z14xxxxxxxx
This item has been shipped.
Actual status from UPS) ( current as of midnight 10/23)
As you can see from the timeline, UPS does not yet have the item on Oct 23 midnight, the seller cannot even give it to UPS until Mon Oct 25, but it is SHIPPED AND the feedback delivery date that ebay is holding the seller responsible for is 6 days later than the order summary estimated date !

Wrong. The order delivery ETA provided by EBAY in the order details on summary page and the purchase history screens changes ALL of the time as Ebay sees fit. If it does not arrive by the original estimates on those pages, Ebay simply changes it to a later ETA. The delivery ETA shown on the "leave feedback" screen is the ACTUAL seller performance measurement date, usually several days LATER than either of the previous dates provided, sometimes a calendar week or more. See my latest reply to the OP, with actual order details from my summary, purchase history, and leave feedback screens cut and pasted in that reply. Often, too, if it is going to deliver by either of those first-provided ETA's, Ebay will email an "Early Delivery" alert to the buyer but early delivery usually does NOT happen either. It is just a "warm fuzzy" for buyers that they have come up with in the last year, that makes you feel good until you realize it is just "blowin more smoke"

I emailed the vendor after rec'ing his email. I asked that the software be sent by Priority mail because it can be insured. I did this on the same day that I rec'd his email. I did not hear from him and I sent a second email. I am worried. Is there any way to contact Ebay and ask them to look into it. I know that when you try to ask them to "step in" before the expected delivery date this can not be done. And when Ebay changes the expected delivery date and it is not delivered, they will "step in". Is there any way that you can discuss this with Ebay when they keep changing the "expected delivery date?
Best Regards,
Bob
