HI,
Just paid over $1000 for an item advertised as a rare store demo. Unfortunately, I paid before doing enough research and the item is bootleg. The seller did not physically ship it at the post office yet (since it is night time) but has marked it as shipped. Description says there are no refunds.
What are my options? I paid with my credit card. I don't even want the bootleg. I just want my money back. My credit card rep says I can dispute it after it shows up as "pending" on my credit card statement.
But what do I do about the item if it get s shipped to me? Do I refuse it? Could the seller then claim they never received it back? Do I receive the item and ship it back with tracking? But would that enable the seller to say that they I opened the package and did something to it?
Will eBay help?
Please help. Thanks!

NO do not refuse it. You lose protection if you do. You have to wait for it to arrive to file a case. No way to say it's not legit until you receive it. You are protected.

How do you know for a fact it is bootleg? You tried to file a credit card refund already? That’s just not right!

I found photos of a bootleg that matched what I purchased. There was also a comment from a well known archivist who expressed that. I've never been fooled out of this much money before.

Thanks for the advice. Am I protected even after opening the package?

Yes, fully. In fact you have to open the package to see what it is and if it matches the description in the listing. If it does not, you file an item not as described case. The seller pays it's return.

Reach out to your seller and request cancelation before they drop it off to save everyone's time and money. If they bought the label on eBay they can void the label and be refunded for it, eventually. I don't know what you bought and how you can tell it's bootleg before seeing it.

I agree that you should send a message to the seller and ask them to cancel the order, apologizing for the inconvenience.
