I know when a Return starts eBay posts a deadline date when the Buyer has to return an item. Sadly, eBay does NOT show that information once a return is Accepted. Does anyone happen to know how long a Buyer has to return an item once the item has actually shipped? I don't see any place on the return claim flow to ask eBay to step in and close a return.
The only options they give are
-Mark the item received
-Issue a refund

I will try and get clarification on all the dates and terms eBay uses ... typically Sellers are given more then 12 to 15 hours to actually Refund a Buyer but in this case I was not ... here's the proof. The package was on my porch and the flow confirmed delivery AND the flow clearly states to Refund the Buyer today (the 22nd).
Also, it is odd that magically, the end date of the Return happened to be the day it was returned after nothing from the 16th to the 21st ...

Yes, that is strange showing you to 'refund' the moment it was delivered. I've always been given a 'message' in the my TASKS of the SELLER HUB and always given the 48 hrs to refund (item shows in the TASKS when tracking shows it was delivered- usually within hours)

@stainlessenginecovers Obviously the return flow programmers never thought to have the flow adjust to a delayed delivery of a return in regard to the time a Seller has to respond ... as long as I can remember I have been given the 2 days to Refund ...

@lakefor94 I have one that started the tracking process on 12-10
You can safely ignore the automatic "should already have been delivered" and "Refund by" message which eBay sends when return tracking runs long and has not shown delivery yet, @mr_lincoln. It's a scare tactic.
Instead, when return tracking finally shows delivered, coincidentally on the same Dec 22, you still have 2 business days -- until the end of Tuesday Dec 27 next week after Christmas -- to refund, or eBay will do it for you a few minutes into the following day.

Thank you for that @papa486516 ,
I was pretty sure that a lot of the eBay verbiage was a fear mongering tactic and I am sure a lot of Sellers fall for it and refund before the item is returned or well as before they need to. I typically refund the same day I receive the item back but my issue was how they worded everything giving me the impression that I had to refund the same day I received the item.
In my case for this return there was no damage so I only had to withhold the original shipping from the remorse return. However, if the item had been damaged I would have withheld 50% of the item price too BUT had the item been a day late I would have wanted to have the claim closed in my favor for 100% of the item price and not take a chance that the item was still intact.
