Help with ebay returns

After 2 weeks the person who bought a scanner says its DOA and wants a refund. It was not DOa when it left here and after 2 weeks who knows what they have done to it for it to not work. Ive tried telling this to them and they insist it doesnt matter how long its been.I tried to compromise at refund 150 but they declined it. On the listing it says no returns accepted.

What else can i do?

Re: Help with ebay returns

You can send the buyer a prepaid return label and refund fully when you get the item back.

Or, dig in your heels and fight it and lose both the item and the money.   Your call.

@trouble0692000

No returns policy applies only to "remorse" returns.

Re: Help with ebay returns

Old electronics??

They can claim DOA and item not as described;

No returns does not mean no refunds.

You agree the buyers money back guarantee by using eBay to sell on..

Choice return for refund.

or

let them keep it and refund.

And if old electronics: such can fail anytime unless refurbished to remove parts that fail with age...

Re: Help with ebay returns

@trouble0692000 As a seller you need to be up to date on the policies for this platform. There is a MBG here so only remorse returns are not guaranteed. A buyer claiming DOA is not a remorse reason. Also all buyers have 30 days to return their items, so 2 weeks is well within the limits. Here is the link tot he MBG, you really need to familiarize yourself if you intend to continue to sell online. Best of luck to you....

That doesn't mean you won't be refunding.

If the buyer filed an INAD and you want the item returned before refunding, accept the return and provide return shipping.

If you don't, Ebay could refund the buyer from your account and let them keep the item.

The MBG overrules your no returns when a buyer claims the item is defective.

Have a great day.

Re: Help with ebay returns

first thing i would do is investigate the buyer and see if, and how many times they have pulled this **bleep** in the past.  if this has happened several times with this buyer claiming doa or not as described you may have a case.  second, if you do decide to refund, check out the item thoroughly when it is returned.  see if the buyer has removed or replaced any parts.     i really feel for you, this happens a lot on ebay.  people too cheap to buy a new item will go on ebay looking for a used item at a cheap price expecting it to function as a new one would.    i wonder if these buyers would go to a yard sale or auction,  buy an item and later if it stops working take it back and demand their money back.   No they wouldn't, because they would not want to look stupid.  so why do they think they can get away with it on ebay?  because policy says they can.     they like it when they can buy used items with zero responsibility on their part.  they like it when the sellers take all the chances at yard sales, flea markets, estate sales, auctions, etc. where they buy items "as is" and then try to make a slim profit on ebay from buyers that don't think they should be held to the age old, unwritten policy of "as is, where is".  be different if it was a new item with a guarantee, but it's not.  and all these ebay bootlickers can talk about policy all they want, but the fact remains, the policy is wrong and needs to be changed and most of all you don't agree with a policy that is blatantly wrong.

Re: Help with ebay returns

@maclark1953  so you'd be OK buying something that is supposed to be fully functional and it arrives DOA? You'd just eat the loss and move on?

Question,  How would you investigate a buyer when eBay removed the ability for a seller to post negative feedback on a buyer?

That’s fine. You can issue a full refund instead.

Re: Help with ebay returns

So there is no protection for a seller? He lied and I have to pay.  He didn't return all the parts and I have to pay to replace those. Why should he get A full refund? I've already reported him

Re: Help with ebay returns

Nope, you will have to take the return and refund, or refund without accepting the return, letting the buyer keep the item.  I'm sorry, but under the MBG, those are your options.  eBay will not look at pictures or videos from anybody to prove anything.  Accept the return and refund when you receive it.

We sympathize with you as sellers, but this is the risk we all take when we sell on eBay.  I'm sorry it happened to you though.
