False Return request

Hello!

I just wanted to ask if this ever happened to other sellers

So,I sold a pair of Christian Dior sling back shoes ,in excellent condition, the buyer painted my shoes soil with an orange paint saying that that’s how I sent them to her, asking for a refund. Also,I want to mention that the account that the shoes were purchased from was created on the same day of the purchase,October 20,2023

i filed a case against the buyer, but now EBay is telling me that I have to accept the return!

How are we,sellers, protected from this kind of scams?!

Im just in shock that some buyers will go to this extant to request a return!

If anybody has an advice or went to similar situation, please reply!

False Return request

That's the way it is, Ebay doesn't know what you shipped or what the buyer received and they'll always side with the buyer.

Since you got Ebay involved, they might just refund the buyer from your account and let them keep the shoes.

Have a great day.

False Return request

I see you are a top rated seller.  If you offered 30 day returns in the listing and get back an item that was altered you can deduct up to 50% of the refund. If you had in the listing, seller does not accept returns, then you will be stuck with providing a full refund. That is online sales in the 2020's.

50% refund deduction is about the best eBay offers in a return case.

False Return request

All businesses have to deal with this. It’s an unfortunate reality. Never sell items you can’t afford to absorb. Just write it off and move on. There will always be dishonest people, and there’s really nothing you can do to stop it.

I used to own a physical retail store, in a rural community. Even there we dealt with theft and damage on a regular basis.  I’ve even had people walk off with items at a garage sale. This world is full of entitled people.

Yes... accept the Return if you want the shoes back before issuing the impending full refund.

And as @lakefor94 suggests... you can somewhat shore up future losses like this by offering (at least) 30-Day (Buyer pays) Returns. It truly is one of the last seller protections left, and I'd also suggest that you revisit it. Hang in there...
