Damaged return

I received the Chanel Case today and as I opened the package the whole case was mangled it can not be opened . The case is completely broken. Please view the pics that I have provided. Due to this damage to the item I can not agree to refund the money. Now I’m out of money for shipping and the price of the case that can not be listed again. I had to refund the buyer the end of reporting problem with the return. Does eBay investigate and refund my money that I had refunded to the buyer?

Re: Damaged return

Unfortunately, getting the item to the buyer intact is the responsibility of the seller.

Refund the buyer on your own or let ebay do the refund and suffer the penalties.

BTW, Ebay will use your money for the refund.

Your post is a little hard to follow, but it appears that you were the seller and shipped an order to a customer, and it arrived damaged. You then decided not to refund the buyer, so eBay took the money from your account and refunded the buyer for you. Correct?

If so, that is the way it is supposed to work. You, the seller, are responsible for safe and intact delivery of the order to the buyer. If the shipping company damaged it, you can try to file a claim with them, but you do not get to choose not to refund the buyer, who did nothing wrong and is not responsible for the safe delivery of their order. By refusing to refund, you have now earned a defect on your seller account, and have not be credited the fees for the order, which if you had voluntarily issued the refund as you should have, would have been credited towards that refund. In the future, honor your obligations as a seller and do not attempt to leave your buyers without the item they ordered.

You are required to refund your buyer in full upon return. The damage is on you. You need to contact insurance. My suggestion is just eat the cost and view it as a business expense which is written off. Yes I understand it's a loss of the item and shipping cost however it's 1 transaction. Make it up during the remainder of the year.

Re: Damaged return

Why would eBay refund you the money that you refunded the buyer?

You got the case back and the buyer gets their money back...you don't get the case and that money back.

The money to refund the buyer comes from you....end of story
