Can't add pictures to return deduction

Tried eBay app, eBay phone, PC edge browser, taking pics using the app, copy pics to PC to upload in edge.  Finally got SOME of them to show up but in Chrome but can't click next to continue the return deduction.

Buyer threw MacBook pro in box so it can bounce it around and it till tore through the 2 edges where she ripped the box open and barely taped together so the edge it bent to crap and the middle is now bent by the Ethernet port.  I don't know what to do here bc if I deduct half off with no pics they will appeal and I will of course lose.

Naturally the return reason was "missing pieces of parts" and of course, it wasn't.  Charger, SSD, 8gb ram, i7, all there.  Mac OS, check.  From what I can tell they couldn't figure out how to use it and thankfully the covered it in filth and my personal, favorite is food.

Can't add pictures to return deduction

Last I knew if a buyer appealed the deduction that a seller is allowed to take, the appeal, if approved was paid with eBay $$, not seller $$.

Well, dang. The last time I had to use the deduction, I didn't have to add photos... wasn't aware it was necessary now.

I'm with @buyselljack2016, though... I think a reversal on appeal would be a 'Courtesy' refund. Yes, it's your money... but it's swimming in a big pool with other sellers' funds. (FWIW, I'd be 'In', under these circumstances.) Good luck with it.

Can't add pictures to return deduction

Ok I finally was able to get pics uploaded.  On PC edge not chrome browser worked, eBay app didn't work taking or trying saved pics, phone edge didn't work but it finally went through with a browser called via.

I had a case like this last year and was able to upload pictures , I don't think I had to then or now but I definitely wanted to show in both cases the damage from them just throwing hundreds of dollar items in a box and returning it.

I don't think if a buyer appeals they are courtesy refunded because the remaining funds I deducted are still on hold though the case is closed.  In my case last year those deducted funds remained on hold until the buyer appealed my deduction and lost, then my remaining funds were released after the 3 or so days it took.  I doubt eBay would courtesy refund everyone but I don't doubt in some situations the may.  While I have 100% flawless account in every way with 0 defects in anything, in the past I've still lost plenty of cases but the partial deduction has only ever happened twice now.

Shame I lost $60 shipping this item both ways and they couldn't at least wrap one layer of the 24 layers they received it in, so now a mint MacBook is bent up in 2 spots.  Of course the buyer has good feedback but one positive does say they returned item covered in filth and food, just like this Mac.   I looked the person run up and they list rooms in the house they live as a motel on on travel sites and all the reviews are bad bc it's not a motel, they share bathroom with the family, it's allegedly filthy with bed bugs and she doesn't return deposits.  In fact she usually charges to replace curtains, carpet, lamps or whatever to milk money.  1 star review "motel ".   Great people.....

Nobody cares about the pictures.

You can deduct without the photos and nobody cares.

ebay will give them the rest of their money back if they call, out of their own pocket, 100% of the time.

Nobody will ever look at your photos and they will not factor in to anyones decision. The photos are a waste of time. I would have given up on uploading them the first time it didn’t work. It not working is your first hint that they don’t care about your photos.

That buyer busted up your computer and caused you a loss. Ebay counted it on service metrics. You better be careful. If you get abused too much ebay will abuse you some more. Want to get really mad!? Go look at your service metrics and see that laptop sitting there on the list.

For everything that happens conditions exist such that nothing else could have happened.

I don't look at my metrics anymore.  I know it's eBay and everything is my fault.  I know nobody cares about the pictures but I wanted the buyer to sell them....  From what I see they were continually trying to login to webpages, except they weren't logged into the wifi.  Figured they probably also believed that just throwing a laptop in a box much larger than it (on top of some of the bubble wrap it arrived in) would actually arrive safely

Anyways, The other half of the funds is still on hold and still says it will be released when the refund clears.  However the case shows closed when I open it even though it technically still shows 2 current cases ongoing and the transaction shows completed under the payments section so I'm leaning toward they don't want to release the rest of the funds in case the buyer appeals the partial refund.  So far, they haven't.  I've always assumed if they appeal and win, eBay would pay them back from my funds.  I had one buyer appeal a partial once a year ago but they lost, the funds remained on hold then as they do now.  I've heard of a lot of sellers who were hit with a chargeback from partial refunding, I really don't see eBay taking that financial loss.  Maybe I'm wrong or maybe it depends on the buyers track record ...  Maybe I'll see what I can find in eBay rules regarding it.

Somebody set me straight please.

1) I thought a seller was protected in false not as described returns, that eBay would give the seller's money back they were forced to refund if the buyer claimed doesn't work and the seller can prove that's false.

2) I thought if the return was a remorse return and it came back in worse condition you can deduct from their refund.

3) I thought If the buyer claimed it was damaged that the seller had to refund in full, and if they didn't  the buyer could appeal and get the full refund.

I think you are referring to the top rated sellers protection specifically which is basically a $6 shipping credit and removing returns from metrics when you report buyers.  It states -

buyer falsely claims an item was not as described-

If the report qualifies will subsidize the return shipping label cost up to $6.00 per return for any false claim filed by a buyer that an item was not as describ

The subsidy will be credited on your monthly invoice.

For transactions to be eligible you must report the buyer - opens in new window or tab.

Credits will be applied where we determine the buyer made a false claim.

We will also automatically remove negative and neutral feedback, defects, and open cases in service metrics

There is a seller protection mentioned for all sellers from abusive buyers that says -

If eBay finds a buyer's behavior is abusive, we will take action on the buyer and remove negative and neutral feedback and defects, including opened cases in service metrics.

We don't know what eBay deems an abusive buyer or how many returns it takes before they take any action against one.  We really don't have much protection as a seller except appealing scammer cases with police reports.  I've heard of eBay courtesy refunds but don't think they are generally applicable with trs deductions.  I'm pretty sure we're on the hook for our own funds but in select few situations, a courtesy refund may apply to a buyer and or seller.

As of right now my discount has not been appealed but the remainder of those funds are still on hold.  I can only assume they will be held until she cannot appeal and held further if she does appeal.

Are we not notified if a buyer appeals a partial refund, one would think a seller would be notified immediately and kept in the loop in ones own case.

The funds are still on hold which states can be held until shipping or disputes are settled.  As far as I'm aware, I sent a 50% refund and the case is settled/closed, the case agrees when I view it but I can't get my 50% ?

50% refunded June 27th.

Other 50% still on hold July 8th.

To my knowledge the buyer hasn't appealed unless they don't inform the seller, doesn't seem worth taking advantage of again if they are going to hold my funds indefinitely...

50% refunded June 27th.

July 11th and other 50% still on hold.

Return still shows up under "returns" but nothing after "refund issued on 27th".

One of these days, I guess.

I had the exact same problem and it's really frustrating. I got around it by opening the photos I took in MS Paint and then saving them again (as the same file format, .JPG). Suddenly eBay accepted the photos.

Actually I think that's essentially why it finally worked for me, I saved them to my PC and then back from the PC to my phone when it finally worked.

It's currently July 11th, refunded 50% June 28th.

Other 50% still on hold, indefinitely.

Zero information why or when...
