Can I get the return date extended?

I’m returning an item that wasn’t as described and wondering whether I can negotiate any more time to do so than the 30 days from the date of order?

 

Firstly I paid for first class postage but after taking the best part of a week to actually dispatch it was then shipped second class.

When it arrived not as stated and I opened a return case, the seller waited until the last moment to respond but did accept, however then sent contradictory messages saying they refused to provide a return label and this went on for another week before I finally managed to get it sent, now I find myself having to return by the date stated when the majority of the 30 days is already up due to the sellers time wasting, is there any way I can ask for a little longer to send back on this basis? 

I don’t have a printer and I don’t drive and my local post office just closed, I normally go into town every so often but I’m not sure I’m going to be able to find a chance to go now, if the seller had not been refusing it would have been done when I went in last week, now if I have to make a particular trip I will be out of pocket and what’s more I doubt I will have the opportunity, can anyone advise?

The timer starts with the order's delivery... not the order date. Buyers have like Forever + 1 Day to ship. I think you're good.

You're saying that you are already close to the deadline that you gave you to return the item? You can ask customer service if they will extend it, I have no idea if they will.  One of the easier ways to contact them is to go to ebay Facebook or Twitter and send them a private message with your information and the question.

As mtgraves7984 said a buyer has 30 days from the day they receive an item to request an Item Not as Described return through eBay's Money Back Guarantee, the return will be automatically approved as per the MBG and then the buyer has an absurdly long time to send the item back to the buyer (according to the last couple of returns I've had to deal with as a seller it's something like three weeks and eBay is well known for extending it even further).

Perhaps not in this kingdom, no. But OP is in another kingdom, far, far away.

 

If you still can't drive or print your label at a local library @emal_5226 by the time the deadline to mail your return approaches, consider abandoning the eBay return request and file a return request at PayPal at this page here instead, if that's how you paid.

 

This will give you 20 more days to find a way to print that same return label, to return the item for your refund.

The date I’m being told I need to return by is definitely 30 days from when the order was placed not allowing for the all of the delays, if that’s the case is the return date I’ve been provided wrong? Is it set by the seller? I assumed it was automatic. Thanks.

You have 30 days from when the package was delivered (estimated or actual date) to start the return request, but that doesn't set the date when it has to be returned by.

 

Once the seller accepts the request, then you have up to 10 days to send it back with tracking. If the tracking number isn't scanned by the post office within that time, then you may lose the case because you haven't complied. 

 

The policy is slightly different on eBay USA (where this discussion board is) because on eBay UK, they specify that the item has to be sent back within 10 days. On eBay USA, it's similar, but the time frame isn't explicitly specified, so the buyer finds out when the return request is accepted. Here's the policy about this on eBay UK:

I don't know if they will be able to give you an extension or not, but you can ask eBay UK customer service. You can reach live chat on eBay UK here by scrolling down to the very bottom of the policy page linked above. Click on "Contact us" and then ask to speak to an agent. As long as it isn't the wee hours of the night, there should be someone available for live chat or to call you back.

Thanks for your reply, it doesn’t work out as 10 days from the return being accepted either unfortunately but I will contact eBay and see what’s going on and whether they can help, thanks again.
