Buyer wrongly claims wrong item sent

Buyer purchased an item in black. At the time we only had black in stock so other colors were disabled.  This was an international order. Expensive item and high cost for shipping.

Now the Buyer claims he wanted a different color.  Claims he left an order note saying he wanted alternate color. I tell him we only had black at the time he ordered and that we shipped him black as that is what he ordered.

I’ve checked his order and there is no order note to be found. He sends me a image showing his requested order note, but it doesn’t match our order page.  Where would an order note show up if a buyer leaves one?

Buyer has since opened a return saying we sent him wrong item. Should we fight this or give in?  Return shipping alone is close to 90 dollars.

Yep if you don't eBay will refund on your dime and let them keep it for free.   Many years ago I had a buyer say I shipped the wrong color. An item that was only made in one color !   The buyer is always right in eBay's eyes.

I would avoid using the choice option for that very reason.  Leads to confused buyers and returns.
