Buyer wants to return item but -

Buyer wants to return item purely because it arrived a couple days late.

There is nothing wrong with the item. The buyer however is using the "Didn't match description" reason to return but clearly in our message exchange the item is clearly fine.

Whats the point of me selecting "doesn't accept returns"?

The dude somehow got my phone number is threatened me to hurry up and give him a refund. Whats to stop him from damaging the item after getting it and saying it came like that?

Buyer wants to return item but -

In answer to your last question there is nothing that can stop that from happening.

No returns doesn't mean no refunds as unfair as it may seem.

If you want your item back you need to issue a return label to the buyer to return the item to you on your dime. Refund when you get your item back.

If you don't want the item back you refund and they get to keep the item.

If you let ebay get involved MOST LIKELY you will probably lose your item and your money.

The choices are not great but that is the price of selling on the internet from personal experience.

If you are a top rated seller I believe you can deduct 50% of the return shipping cost if the item is not in the same condition as shipped.

When all is said and done and the buyer gets their money and you get your item or whichever scenario you choose you can report the buyer for the false reported return reason. That is about all you can do.

Smarter folks will come along and help if I am incorrect.

Buyer wants to return item but -

If this is true I'm done with Ebay.

I sold a tool that retails for 700$. I sold it for 275. Its in great condition.

I can't afford to lose my item and the money.

Insane.

The buyer however is using the "Didn't match description" reason

Because the buyer chose a NAD (not as described) reason for the return, you must either accept the return and pay for return shipping if you want the item back or you can issue a refund and let him keep the item.

The dude somehow got my phone number is threatened me to hurry up and give him a refund.

Do NOT issue a refund before you receive the item back! If you issue the refund first, you cannot make him return it. Click to accept the return and send a return label. The buyer will have about 3 weeks to send it back and once you receive it, you can refund him.

Sorry this happened.

Issue the return label and do not refund until you get the item back.

If you shipped UPS or perhaps FedX,  your phone number was likely on the shipping label.

Do NOT allow the buyer bully you into refunding before you receive the item back.

You won't be able to deduct anything from the refund if it comes back damaged or they send you some rocks instead.

You can block the buyer phone number.

Buyer wants to return item but -

I totally understand, and, can relate.

I decided long ago that I couldn't sell anything on here that I wasn't afraid to lose. Sometimes shipping carriers lose items as well and filing claims can be a nightmare.  So it can be a buyer problem or a carrier problem.

Understand though that probably every website that allows someone to sell or buy an item there will always be a loophole for someone to take advantage either a buyer or a seller. It isn't just this site.

At best, you get your item back and resell and are out shipping cost. So try to get that item back and resell it.  At worst, you get to deduct this loss on your income taxes. Make sure you block the buyer also when all is said and done and report him if necessary. I truly am sorry this happened to another person.

Read over the abusive buyer policy and report the buyer as well.

Not allowed
  • Claiming an item was not received when there is proof of delivery to the address on the Order details page
  • Falsely claiming an item was not as described
