Buyer wants refund for an item they no longer have

This has never happened in my history of being an eBay seller so I need to get the opinion of others...I recently sold a new silkscreened t-shirt, no issues with the transaction. The buyer contacted me and stated the shirt smelled like paint and because the smell was still present after washing it, they donated it but they are now asking for a refund based on me not disclosing the odor in my listing. I advised that I didn't detect a paint smell and after several passive agressive messages from the buyer( they accused me of saying they were lying which I didn't, and that I didn't apologize that I sold them an item that smelled like paint) So I'm supposed to refund them but they took it upon themselves to donate the item because no one would want it? Suggestions?

Tell her to open a case for snad, when she cant return the shirt, ask Ebay to close the case in your favor, and any neg fb she leaves can be removed. Sounds like a scam.

@aria614 I always follow the policies on here and they seem to work in my favor. Tell the buyer to open an item not as described case. That will force the buyer to return the ship, which she cannot do. Case will close in your favor and if she leaves any negative feedback, it will be removed. Your best bet to resolve. If buyer goes to her credit card, then you will be out the money, but try this anyways and she may go away. Best of luck to you....

Too late, she left a negative accustory review. I didn't tell her I wouldn't give a refund, just that I needed to discuss with eBay. I would like eBay to go in and review all of the messages exchanged because this negative feedback is pretty outrageous.

When a customer complains about an item, the only thing I say is, "sorry you are not pleased with your purchase, please return for refund". Wash, rinse and repeat if needed, one other time, that's it.

Ball is in the buyer's court.

I did not see anything in that feedback that would qualify for removal. Good luck.
