Blocked from asking eBay from stepping in

I made 2 purchases in the same transaction. When I received them I was immediately informed that they were illegal in my area. I requested a return. I went the eBay route and printed a return shipping label. It only covered half of the order. I went ahead and printed the second label. The items were sent in one neatly packaged box, and my intention was to return them exactly as delivered. Since I couldn't put 2 labels on a single box, I chose to ship via UPS for practically the same dolar amount. I have receipts and proof of delivery. The vendor refuses to send a refund and states that she has no idea where the returned package is. My proof of delivery states that the package was left inside of the bussiness. I am blocked from asking ebay to step in on my behalf because I printed the return labels provided and did not use them to ship with. As far as the computer system is concerned, I never sent the items back. I have gone back and forth with the seller in good faith to no avail, even providing a photo of both receipt for shipping and proof of delivery. Is there another way to contact eBay to get them to step in?

Hi @listed_buyer

It's usually best to follow eBay's instructions ... even when they don't make sense.

If you were sent TWO shipping labels ... then you should have returned the items in TWO  packages using the labels you were provided, since eBay's automated system is expecting to see TWO tracking numbers showing 'Delivered' to the seller.

Since you chose to improvise with your own shipping label ... you need to provide eBay with the tracking information you purchased.  That UPS tracking number needs to be added to the 'return request' you originally  opened.  Did you do that?

If not ... then do it now!

If you can no longer add the number to the request ... then contact eBay through social media and explain what you did.  Hopefully they will be able to fix the problem and provide a refund.  [I'll provide the links to reach eBay CS below.]

IF the eBay reps cannot verify that you returned the items ... you may have to contact your credit card company, give THEM the tracking number of the returned package, and request a chargeback.

You could used that first label and put both orders in and a cinder block, carrier would of adjusted the price with eBay.  On that note it's not really the sellers fault you didn't check check local laws before purchase, that's something I would have eaten the cost on.

I have eaten the cost for shipping. I have no intention of having others pay for my mistake. I just want the seller to send my refund. Refunds are accepted. I typically don't send something back if I am dissatisfied. I have also never left anything less than stellar reviews.

Nobody is perfect. I asked for help. Not critisism. Please keep your negative energy to yourself.

Although you aren't being told what you were hoping to hear, you came here with a problem and you're getting honest advice.

1. Although the seller has a return policy, it's a buyer's responsibility to know whether an intended purchase is legal in the buyer's locale. Not having verified that it's legal, you goofed. (I get that you're accepting responsibility, but it WAS your error.)

2. I'm a bit confused by "2 purchases in the same transaction" because if they were the same transaction, the seller's acceptance of return would have only had 1 label. If you received 2 labels, it sounds like you made 2 separate purchases that should have been returned/shipped separately.

3. Since you purchased your own label and shipped independently of the order, ebay has no way of knowing that the items were returned. They cannot link your tracking number to your return of 2 items you bought from the seller. And if the seller says he didn't get the package, how can you prove otherwise?

4. Had you used the seller's labels you received through the order, you would have tracking showing delivery and you would have received the refund.

I'm sorry but this was a result of your own mistakes.
