Asked for a refund

Bought an item and it ended up arriving damaged. Took pictures of the item and messaged the seller and showed the damaged item. They replied saying they would refund me half. The sale price in my "purchase history" now shows 12.50 (roughly half of what I paid) but I don't see it in my PayPal or my bank and I never received any notification or email saying I received a partial refund. Am I being scammed?

Hold the phone... you're saying the item price changed  from what it previously showed on the Order? 🤔

I believe so yes. Because when I clicked on the item to pull up the "contact seller" link I remember seeing the price being $24. and something cents. Now it shows exactly 12.50 in my purchase history.

Actually I pulled up my PayPal activity and found the transaction. It was actually $25.68 and was one of 3 transactions that day, the other two not being even close to that amount. And again I have no messages or emails saying a partial refund was issued. And the item in my purchase history does not indicate that either. No record of a refund in my PayPal or bank account.

Was this an item that you wanted so badly to keep that you were willing to settle for a 50% refund?

I ask because you could have opened an item not as described case, escalated the case and returned the item with the seller paying the return shipping cost and you would then have been refunded in total.  Just wanted to make sure you were aware of that.
