Item was sold and insured using the ebay label when shipped. Return was accepted and ebay return label provided. Now USPS says they have lost the item. Is there any insurance on the return label?

eBay says:
When a buyer returns an item and it doesn't show delivered within the specified timeframe then we will look at three possible situations to determine the outcome.
1. If the buyer used an eBay return label then we will close the case in the buyers favor, regardless of who paid for the return label.
2. If the buyer used their own label and they paid for it themselves, we will close the case in the sellers favor.
3. If the seller sent the buyer a label and the seller paid for it, we will close the case in the buyers favor.

eBay says:
Insurance isn't available for return shipments. If either you or the seller prefers that an item be returned with insurance, purchase your own return postage instead of using the return shipping label provided.

this is a real gray area with ebay....as far as I know you are responsible for the package since its your label and your merchandise
maybe you can get a CSR to feel sorry for somebody and issue a courtesy credit
both buyer and seller have done there job

I thought ALL priority mail labels included base/automatic insurance of $50, regardless of the purpose.
I know this doesn't apply for 1st class though.

@Anonymous - has it right - if the returned item was shipped back Priority Mail eBay label, it would include the standard $50 insurance. If it was shipped back First Class Package eBay label, then no insurance at all.
