Yesterday I encountered a problem marking down items using ebay's promoted listings. The new "SALE EVENT + MARKDOWN" is now capped with a maximum discount of 60%. When I used the dollar feature to come down lower than that it reads "SKIPPED: MAXIMUM". Been on the line with CS and they confirmed that 60% is the current maximum discount allowed.
I need to know if this is a tool issue, programming issue, or has there been a new policy that markdowns greater than 60% are no longer acceptable on the eBay platform. Right now I'm hearing it's the later... that 60% is the maximum allowance allowed off retail on ebay.
Can you confirm this?
Hi Honeville: This is the first I'm hearing of this -- so I don't know if this is working as designed or if this is an issue.... We will reach out to the promotions team and get back to you. Thanks! Sarah

I don't have actual metrics to back it up, because I can't compare to us if we weren't doing 60-day free returns, but I believe we get more sales because buyers can shop with us risk free, and that boost offsets the less than 5¢ per item that return shipping has cost us in the last 24 months.
This is in my client account; we sell jewelry, so return shipping via USPS First Class is only $2.61. Looking forward to testing it with our Converse sneakers ib my husband's and my store when we reopen towards the end of this year.

I am still waiting to be rolled into the New Sale Event + Markdown. I understood the roll out was during Aug & Sept. It is Oct now and I only have the old Markdown version available to me.
How much longer do I have to wat for the new version? 😞

Hi there!
Me waving back. It’s been a while. Been busy trying to sell the inherited homes & buy one of our own. I’m not around as much as I used to be. I sure miss you all.

Hi Alan & Sarah,
Can I just say I love working in my PJs with no makeup on?
I’m taking some time off right now because of personal issues but my boss doesn’t care! 😂
I want to thank all my fellow members for extending a helping hand again after my County was nearly destroyed by Irma. I don’t know what I’d do without all of you wonderful people.
I do have a question. Is ebay trying to rid the site of small or part time sellers like myself?
I take buying & selling very seriously & have never really had any problems buying it selling & I'd like to keep selling.
Great to see everyone.
Hey @mg152: I'm so glad to hear that you received outreach from Community members. I think this is what makes eBay just such an incredible site. Buying / Selling / Belonging -- that is what eBay is all about. And no - eBay is definitely not trying to rid the site of small sellers - we're trying to do the opposite. Can you speak more about what is driving the question? Thanks! Sarah

Thank you! You gave me the idea to launch a few each day and not all at once! I love that weekend myself and look forward to it every year. Not only for selling but for shopping! Last year eBay had so many great deals that I bought up a ton and then re-sold them on my eBay account the next week! It's a great product sourcing weekend as well as selling!
Ooh, good idea, Danna! Great info, Sarah! I'll be running promotions starting at midnight between Thanksgiving/Black Friday (happy to have buyers purchase on Thanksgiving, and to accept Best Offers, but keeping that day otherwise commerce-free as a personal priority) and going through the Tuesday after Cyber Monday (to catch shoppers who may be a little late to the party).
Hi Patty! Unicorn glitter back atcha!

Hi Sarah!!!Nice seeing you here!!!I would love to know if eBay has any plans to revive the On Location meetings they used to have and if not , do they have any plans to get more events to get the community together?
Hey @theshoppingmom2: I'm not aware of plans to revive the regional OnLocation meetings....rather we are putting resources toward making eBay Open bigger / better for sellers. We're also looking into how we can better support local Meet Ups with content and maybe fly-ins from eBay staff. What are your thoughs on those? Sarah
