alan@ebay
eBay Staff (Alumni)

Hello! 🙌

Please join the Community team at 1pm Pacific this Wednesday for our weekly chat. We do not have a set topic this week so feel free to ask us your buying or selling questions or share what's on your eBay mind.

Last week I shared a link to a survey we're currently conducting regarding the weekly chat format. Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to give us feedback, we've received some great insights and suggestions for improvements already! If you haven't yet taken the survey, please do so via this link.

Talk to you tomorrow!

Good afternoon everyone!

I am having issues with the search for the past week.  I input small bubble wrap 350 ft in search and get all kinds of other sizes instead.  Is this a known issue?

Also why do I receive emails on items I have previously purchased over 6 months or so ago that they are available still?

Thanks in advance!

When I run a search for the same thing I see a large number of items at just 350 ft, but also some others with different total lengths in the title, but they also all include an option for 350 ft. If you are seeing items that don't have any relevence to your search please let us know.

If you're following a search you could be receiving periodic emails. To know more specifically I'd need to know what the email is titled to determine why it's generating for you.

Tyler:  When will ebay app get fixed , Because  From What I have read there still on going issues with it.  And would like to use it  once  the  tech boys and girls gtet bugs out .

Hey @carlmarxx - the app gets updated all the time, so I can't give you a specific day. I know an update just went out for most people which addressed various bug fixes. If you're encountering a specific issue with the app please let us know so we can work on getting it addressed. 🙂

Oh, another thing, when I go to cancel a post on the boards it does not take me back to the post I was originally going to reply to but takes me to the community home page and I have to navigate my way back.

Is this intended? I have been meaning to ask for awhile now but I kept forgetting but it's getting really annoying.

Trinton, So, while as a seller I'll be able to give a buyer a partial refund that I feel is justified (because , for example, the buyer returned a previously unopened item, opened.)....but...if the buyer is unhappy and doesn't appeal it to ebay, I can get hit with a neg?

What if the buyer does appeal it to ebay? And ebay backs me up? I could still get hit with a neg?

The buyer would be able to leave feedback, including a negative if they feel this is appropriate. They are able to do this currently and we won't be making any changes to this procedure, as the buyer's feedback of their experience is important for you to hear. As I'm sure you are aware, the feedback has no impact on your seller performance rating and exists for your reference to improve where you see fit.

Additionally, a buyer's appeal would not have any relationship to the feedback or your account. That would solely be between eBay and the buyer.

Could you explain what the bold italicized section means?

What role, if any, would a seller play in the buyer's appeal? How will these appeals work? If I give a buyer a partial refund of $20 on a $45 transaction, would it be possible for ebay to take out $25 from my account and refund the balance? Or....? I'm totally confused about the mechanics of the appeal process.

Happy to clarify - when I stated that the buyer's appeal would be solely between eBay and the buyer, I meant to indicate that it would have no impact on the seller whatsoever. You referenced the buyer's appeal and feedback, so I clarified that a buyer's appeal would never have any impact on feedback. If the buyer has concerns about a partial refund they received that we allowed, they can discuss it with eBay. You would not be effected by this, nor would you typically be aware it even occured.

The only time a buyer's appeal will have an impact on a seller is if the seller strung the buyer along until the case expired, promised a refund without issuing it or was expected to refund when the item was successfully returned and they did not do so. In these specific instances, we reserve the right to appeal for the buyer and hold the seller accountable for a refund. This would not apply in the situation you have described.

More details about the guaranteed delivery program were announced this week.

I have more questions about this program.  I've read the FAQ's but I still feel that I am missing a bit.

Would it be possible to have the "team" in charge of this program hold a Q and A before it is time to sign up?

Thank you.

Sure! We'll have Greg and team take over one of our upcoming chats to answer all your questions.

Why are political posts allowed on help boards ? When a newbie seller can't even find eBay's phone number, they somehow find the Community members board, Only to be greeted with Dark printed headlines such as "Hillary Having Trumps Baby" from this "soapbox". Or word games, or other non eBay stuff. These help boards should be used to help eBayers and not the lastest news from TV. Any comments on this Alan?

That's because the "latest discussions" threads feed comes from ALL the boards, including groups where political posts and word games etc are allowed, not JUST the "help" boards.

Handling Time displayed on Listing:

Good afternoon Trinton,

I think it would be beneficial if a Seller's Handling was displayed prominently on the listing when opened.

It used to be - I have no idea why they thought it was a good thing to not display.

Re: Weekly Community Chat, May 24th @ 1pm PT - General Topics

Good afternoon all. I have a question about the new advanced listing tool. I've been using it since last year, and just in the last 2 weeks I've had a problem with the photo uploader. It's a consistent problem.

Using Mac/Safari and Mac/Chrome same issue occured.

I used to be able to highlight a file (or bunch of files), then drag and drop to the listing tool where the add/+ sign is. It would light up a +1 or +5 then I'd drop the photos I dragged over and they would start to upload.

Now the drag/drop no longer works. My only option is to click the add button then select all of the files I want to upload from the window.

Drag/drop is SO much faster, especially since I keep photos for different categories in different folders. I don't want to constantly have to click add, change the folder, scroll and search for the files. If I've just edited the pics and have that folder open it's a snap to drag/drop.

Is this feature "broken" or is it a feature that was removed from the new listing tool?

I agree.  I'm not sure why Ebay stopped having this display on listings.  It use to display on the Shipping page.

Can you give me the specific keywords and the item you were looking for? Happy to look into this with examples.

I have reported this problem several times on this forum.
When I set up a search, I want to see exactly and only items that have ALL my keywords in the title.
I often see items that have a few but not all of the stated keywords.
Occasionally, I see items with NONE of the keywords.
The last time I mentioned this, I was told eBay uses some kind of algorithem to determine what they think I REALLY wanted, and that's what they show me.
Hate that!

Any chance we can get the Classic Uploader back?  I need to be able to select a list of images with file names visible and then let them upload in sequence while I am temporarily away from my computer.

Right now, it's necessary to add images one-by-one and wait for each to load fully before selecting the next image.  This is so time-consuming and completely unnecessary!

~~C~~

There isn't currently a way to get the Classic Uploader back. Your workflow sounds really efficient too, so I'm sorry to throw a wrench in it. I'll make sure to get your feedback shared. In the mean time would File Exchange work better for you than what you're doing now? That would allow you to select images by file name, you could set listings up and then upload at your convenience. Just a thought.

Yes I can  ,    I was Looking up   Retro Mego  star trek   ,those are action figures .

When I searched for this, it looks like the appropriate results came up. I'm not well versed with this collectible, but when searching outside of eBay I also found the same types of action figures. See: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=Retro+Mego++star+trek&_sacat=0 for the results I got and let me know if there is something specific that should/should not be showing up.
