Re: Weekly Community Chat, May 10th @ 1pm PT - General Topics

Been lot's of questions on different boards about a new email some sellers are receiving
ebay has been sending a you've been paid email even if someone does a multi order purchase with say 5 items they get 5 emails!
They are posting that there is not a place in site preferences /communication preferences to stop these emails.
why have they started with some sellers ? & how can they be stopped

so sellers are now getting 3 messages when 1 item sells

You've been paid!" email in addition to the "your item has sold" and the paypal payment email.

Thanks

Re: Weekly Community Chat, May 10th @ 1pm PT - General Topics

I am going to ask you to make sure what you are saying is correct.  I talked to CS early this morning and both the rep and the supervisor said that ebay will not under any circumstances issue a defect for out of stock when a full refund is issued through paypal.  The only way a out of stock defect can happen is when a seller cancels a sale on ebay.

I feel certain they were both incorrect.  I also wondered why the rep said to me " what are you worried about anyways you do not have defect to your account right now"  Why that mattered I do not know and why the rep was not listening to me and my concerns instead of fishing around my account during the call, seems a bit out of line.

-------------

I have also had "defects" because I refunded a buyer--at the buyer's request--through PayPal.
I have also experienced--over and over and over--a "customer service" tech who simply does not understand my question, and keeps suggesting "fixes" that have nothing to do with the problem.
...and who tells me not to worry because I don't have enough defects yet to be booted out of TRS status.
I'm really sick of this cavalier treatment of dedicated sellers! </rant>

Nice suggestion. We'll float it to the team that's responsible for that part of the site.  At the moment, if you get a request like that through eBay messages and you were to receive a miss on this metric for that reason our Customer Support team could review that for you.

That would nice tool too have . thank  you

There is a new eBay home page. I did submit feedback via the link provided, but I would like to know:

1. How do I delete my viewing history? There used to be a link to clear history and that is gone. As I often click on other posters' listings to help offer advice these are items I am generally not interested in purchasing and would like to remove from my search history.

2. How do I turn off recommended listings? Just because I have listed for sale an original drawing (winter sports related) does not mean I want to see suggestions of other artwork to purchase, especially when they are pornographic. NOT what I want to see the home page flooded with when I sign in.

3. Is there a way to switch back to the old view? While I did not love it, it's certainly better than this new view.

Happy to address these concerns for you:

1. There is no option to clear your Recently Viewed, but you can provide feedback using the Help tab on the right of the screen, no problem! As a staff member, I also run into the same issue you are with lots of items I've viewed to help posters on the boards and would love to be able to edit this feature 🙂

2. Any innappropriate content you are seeing in the Recomended for you section can be reported via the Help link as well. We'll be happy to take a look at this for you!

3. No option to switch back - this new home page will be rolled out to the eBay community in batches over the coming months. Be sure to provide your feedback for enhancements!

Hey,

Is there an option to allow invoices to be sent on the mobile app? If there is not is that something that can be looked at?

Hi @cnjsurplus - The app doesn't have the option to send invoices just yet. Unless shipping needs to combined/updated, your buyer should get an automatic message from us asking them to submit payment which can serve as an invoice of sorts. That said, keep an eye out for updates in the future.

And they just answered it.  Although it isn't really a question, it's a suggestion.  You should try and remain a little patient.

I just experienced this today.

The good: For NEW sellers it's an additional confirmation that payment came through (though they should still be checking their PayPal acct to confirm what with all the false messages out there).

The bad: For experienced sellers this is unnecessary and I would like a way to turn it off. eBay notifies me of a sale followed by PayPal who notifies me that payment has come through. I don't need another e-mail from eBay saying a payment has been made.

Re: Weekly Community Chat, May 10th @ 1pm PT - General Topics

This response also says to me that policies and policy pages are changed directly on the policy page and the only way to know about it is by viewing the page.

Not only that, but as you suggest you'd have to read the entire page (or in most cases, multiple pages) to know that anything had changed (assuming you remembered everything on the old page that you can no longer see).   It would be really helpful to annotate policy changes with "Rev. (date)" so that users can easily locate any recent changes to policy.

The idea that you're supposed to read every policy page on eBay prior to listing every item, just in case something has changed, is ridiculous.  And it doesn't help eBay attain policy compliance any either.

Hi, Trinton...

Still looking for some resolution with the seller using the red/blue hearts in his/her titles.  I see the violation continues.

Is there a reason why, after about three weeks and numerous reports, why the seller has at least not been told to stop this practice?  As you know, it is a straight-forward browse and search manipulation policy violation.

At this point, if nothing is going to be done, then I'm sure other sellers would be extremely interested in knowing it is okay to do this so they, too, can have attention drawn to their listings, myself included.

Thanks.

Hi @llllady - We aren't able to go into any details regarding actions taken on another member's account. That said, I can assure you we are addressing this and working with appropriate teams to have it handled.

I agree the current set up is convoluted ... thus the suggestion based on the frequency of this issue with new Sellers ... thanks again Heidi

Re: Weekly Community Chat, May 10th @ 1pm PT - General Topics

Why are policy updates not posted to the Announcements area as they occur with a link to the appropriate policy page? And is this something that we can make happen go forward?

Hi @copper.boom - I can appreciate your concern on this. With how many policies we have, we wouldn't be able to post an announcement with each update. That said, we will make announcements on major changes. I simply suggest doing a quick glance over from time to time just as a refresher.

So, you are saying that eBay has too many policies, and makes to many changes to those policies, to issue an email for every change
...so you expect every seller to review every policy page every day to find out what has changed.
Isn't that a little backwards?

This is not a question, just a comment. Thanks to the community team for fielding our questions, especially for these seller updates. While we don't have a lot of answers yet, and in fact have more questions than before, it is appreciated that you are working to get the correct information so you can advise back. I know it isn't easy to be the ones who take so much of the frustration and anger that comes with these updates.

Side note: next update the Community Team should be given at least a week to view the updates before they are released, that way you can find out all the policy specifics ahead of the flood of questions and perhaps eliminate some of the confusion and speculation from the get-go. Make it easier on you and on us. 🙂

Thank you, @copper.boom. Appreciate the feedback.

Trinton, use your company pull! Make friends with the team in charge! Get us the option to clear viewed history!!! 😉

Another thing is I will often research items I'm going to sell. What I would really like to see is a feature that Amazon has where you can delete selected items and keep other items. And if eBay needs a good reason for this just tell them that if I can delete what I'm not interested in and keep what I am interested in then I am much more likely to purchase something when only the items I WANT to see from my browsing history are showed to me. Now they just get lost among the undesirables.

2. Any innappropriate content you are seeing in the Recomended for you section can be reported via the Help link as well. We'll be happy to take a look at this for you!

As stated, already reported this and my FB about new page and about changes I'd like to see.

3. No option to switch back - this new home page will be rolled out to the eBay community in batches over the coming months. Be sure to provide your feedback for enhancements!
