Would y'all please get somebody to monitor the technical issues board, and acknowledge when someone has concerns technical glitches? I'd be glad to post every stray glitch thread I encounter over there, if it felt like anybody from ebay even cared. I see mobile and app glitches getting immediate attention, but the crossover of craziness runs the gamut, It should not just be about mobile friendliness, but it probably is.

Hi @do.you.read.me - We work to monitor all boards and engage where we can. We're also gathering reports of certain technical issues we see and making sure they're reported as necessary. That said, we truly appreciate the feedback and we'll see what we can do to dedicate more time to that board. Thanks! slight_smile

Any chance of getting a "heads up" on what the new shipping supplies sizes will be and when they'll be available?

We're very close, we have multiple variations that are ready to launch! When we can share more information, I will post about it.

Thanks.

Re: Weekly Community Chat, June 14th @ 1pm PT - General Topics

Any update from the shipping team on my post from last week about getting the option to use padded flat rate envelopes added to ebay shipping?

Extremely frustrating issue too. So I discovered yesterday that paypal shipping does have a priority mail ex[ress padded flatrate option. So yesterday when I sold a $3750 coin I though what a wonderful time to try this out. Come to find out there is no way to add signature confirmation to any EXPRESS label in the new paypal shipping. There is an option to add signature to every other class of mail including media mail but NOT for express mail. Then the labels print "waver of signature" by default with no way to select add signature. I was absolutely floored. Now I have to wait a month for my postage refund, and my poor buyer is now confused with 2 tracking numbers since I had to print another though ebay shipping to get signature confirmation. Very frustrating! Someone should probably inform paypal since most people are not using express mail to ship cheap stuff!

Someone asked for examples of search issues:
search: "Star Trek" (episode 14, Galileo 7) got 28 results
search: "Star Trek" Galileo 7 got 65 results

Another thing that is happening more and more often:

a search gives, say, 101 results, but only 18 are displayed

and there's no way to go to another page, or ask for more.

Hi @vrykalak - The more keywords you add to the search bar, the more refined the search results will be. With that working as is, the behavior in your first comment seems to be working as intended.

As for the second point, search results will show a total amount of items within the search. So if 18 listings appear but they have multiple quantity available, it will calculate that into the total search results shown.

In olden days, putting options in () was an OR function.
Usually, it works that way.
Your claim that it's now an AND function is not logical,
because none of those 18 displayed responses contained both terms.

EBay USPS flat rate shipping on size versus weight.---

Item weighs 8 pounds and ONE fits in large flat rate box fine -- but two WILL NOT fit.

EBay will let the customer put as many as they can -- up to 70 POUNDS WITHOUT INCREASING THE SHIPPING!!

Needles to say we lost $$ when we found the problem!

Only tempory solution we came up with was to limit the # available to ONE to prevent multiple quantity purchase.

What can be done??

With respect Heidi this is not necessarily true.  Just recently I reported some strange issues with the search and it just makes you scratch your head.  Not always, but sometimes the ORDER in which you have your words in the search box makes a different in the return.  EXACT same words, just a different order.  That is NOT an issue of the user, that is the program.

Thanks, Heidi. I've been selling for more than 15 years. I probably know eBay's "best practices" by heart.

@this4chris2012 - Completely understandable. One thing to keep in mind is that as time goes on, all online marketplaces evolve and what worked last year may not work this year. I definitely recommend giving Griff's blog a read to see if there's anything you might not doing which you could be.

Many years ago--the last century!--there was a "wish list" or "ISO" option, where you could tell people what you wanted to buy. I haven't seen it for years. Does it still exist? If so, how do I find it? If not, what are the chances of reinstating it?

Wish lists are a great feature and one that's still around. However, we rebranded into 'Collections' a few years back. There is a link to 'Wish Lists' still there under the My eBay drop down in the upper right hand corner, it will just take you to the Collections home page.

Collections are a great way to showcase and keep the items you're interested in in a quick collage format. If you haven't checked them out before you should give them a gander. 🙂

The seller hub has gone through a few changes in that last couple days. The changes are obviously geared toward mobile use which is okay I guess, although I would never try to run an online business from a mobile device, but thats me just a full time online seller since 2001.

I do have an issue that I want to tell you about. It is in the orders tab and the time frame you have it set to show regardless if you are searching under

  • All orders,
  • awaiting payments,
  • awaiting shipment and
  • paid and shipped.

These are the left side bar options as before but now in the drop down box for time frame we only have a very limted amount of choices.

  • Last 24 hours,
  • last 7 days,
  • last 31 days,
  • last 90 days.

This is not going to work for registered businesses that need to break down specific transaction by a specific month( current month, last month only, etc like we had at the beginning of the seller hub.

I actually do not want to sell here at eBay if these options are not available moving forward. I will either opt out of seller hub until I am forced to use it or quit selling here al together.  I need access to that data for income taxes, sales tax, monthly sales totals we monitor and without this in place I am not sure about eBay as a business friendly enviroment moving forward.

The way you have it now I would need to do my reports on an exact date to get just current month, or last month or the last 3 months which are all important time frame for businesses running as businesses and having to file taxes and such.

Please inform the group that is working on this and tell them the importance oif this info to businesses. I do not care to here our data says it is rarely used. Without it eBay will never be used by myself.

Good Luck Selling!

I can see where you're coming from, @goodluckselling. It would definitely be useful and I'll send it on to the Seller Hub team to take into consideration.

Sending money is only one option; the seller can also provide a prepaid label for the buyer to use

Thank you Trinton. Can you provide a link on how to provide a prepaid shipping label if I (usa seller) my customer is in France or the Ukraine?

The steps would depend on the courier you are using; not all couriers are able to provide you with a label for international shipment, however I have heard sellers frequently discussing DHL as a good international option and can suggest you start there. The label could be emailed to you and you could forward this label to your buyer or you could save the image of the label for your buyer to print out and attach to the package for return shipment.

Re: Weekly Community Chat, June 14th @ 1pm PT - General Topics

This issue came up on one of the boards.  When you relist an item it resets the quantity available to the original quantity, not the remaining from the listing.  For example if I have a listing with 3 items and I sell 2, there's 1 left.  Relisting the item resets the quantity availble to 3!  This is NOT noted ANYWHERE expect in a couple posts in the community.   I never noticed this was occurring as I seldom have multiples of the same item.  This does explain 2 of my "item not in stock" cancellations where I could not for the life of me figure out how the buyer could purchase more than I had left.  This is VERY frustrating and should be part of the tutorials and documentation for sellers, especially new sellers.

I've read Griff's blog a number of times. How do I contact you to tell you my ids that are TRS with stores and maybe you can look at my listings and tell me if the problem is me, or is some kind of glitch keeping my listings from being seen?

While you're at it, It would be great if all the dead links could be fixed.
It would also be great if you'd impress upon your higher-ups that the internal messaging system is one INFERNAL mess. All those warnings about outside selling are a slap in the face to honest sellers and buyers alike.
