Hello,

I addressed this a few weeks ago but rec'd no answer.

When I click on 'edit reply' for community posts, it will not allow me to edit, even tho the button is blue (dark mode).

I am on a desktop Mac, Safari, and have had no problems for years with this, started about a month or so ago.

Thank you.

@stuff4divas sorry to hear you're still having problems, does it give you an error message at all or what happens specifically? If you try it in an incognito browser does it do the same thing?

No error message, nothing happens when I click on 'edit reply'

Haven't tried incognito mode bc I never had to b4

Sorry, I don't understand that response. We're already seeing a list of issues that you can read about on the platform board.

Are you saying the answer to my question is yes, these current issues will remain until mid-February or later?

At what point will we be able to stop using the "Authorization" to access the Boards?  And why is it necessary?

Any updates?

Repeat from weeks ago:

According to the Scott Specialized Catalog of US Stamps and Covers, a stamp listed for sale was described as "red orange".  An eBay recommendation was to change the color Item Specific from "red orange" to "orange" for better site visibility. Does eBay define the "Color" item specific filter in the Stamps category with a fixed number of colors to search an unbounded list of colors?

Does eBay have the capability of providing filters for unbounded lists? Yes, the buyer would have to type in values, but this might work better than searching for a red orange stamp with the search term "orange". How would a catalog number item specific filter work if the list is pre-defined?

Hi @clarkphilatelics - I don't have input on this for you, but I will get it to the category team to review.

Thanks!

Could someone please review this post and review the "Offering local pickup" policy, paying particular attention to the statement, "If you don't want to use the app, ask the buyer to sign a copy of the eBay order form at the time of pickup" and explain what went wrong in this transaction?

Hi @eleanor*rigby it looks like there was a payment dispute filed, when that's the case it's based on whatever the card issuer is asking for not eBay's policy. If there was an eBay case opened we could step in and use the info we have, but a dispute is handled differently.

I think we might be missing the focus of the question. Not speaking for @eleanor*rigby here, but I think the point of the question was that eBay did request the proof of pickup, which the OP had obtained per eBay's own instructions (here), then promptly rejected the exact evidence that had been requested. ("[U]nfortunately we would not be able to appeal this case with the signed eBay order form you provided as we are unable to verify if this was signed by the buyer.")

Not only is the seller not being helped by eBay in this dispute, but also eBay is being inconsistent in their own responses to their own requests of the seller. Something needs to be straightened out here.

@a_c_green The signed order or even tracking showing delivery wouldn't matter. When a dispute is opened it's out of our hands and we can't take any action it's all through the cardholder and what they are asking for. If there was an eBay case opened for Item Not Received we can review the proofs we ask for, but this wasn't an eBay case. The buyer went directly to their card company for this, we can help provide the info we have but we can't force them to use those proofs.

Hmm sound like there be no seller protection with payment disputes.

So were is the option to not receive CC for the seller??

I do see some liability for eBay in al of this. Just saying.

jasmen@ebay  the seller protection page says differently  https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-policies/payment-dispute-seller-protections?id=5293

Protections, eligibility requirements and exclusions

Payment dispute seller protections apply when the buyer opens a payment dispute for one of the following reasons:

  • They didn't receive the item
  • They don't recognize the transaction or have an issue with the transaction
  • The item they received doesn't match the listing

For a seller to be eligible for payment dispute seller protections:

  • The transaction must meet the requirements specified in this policy
  • The seller must respond to the payment dispute and take action within the requiredtime frames
  • If challenging the payment dispute, the seller must provide the required evidence
  • The seller may not be in violation of theUser Agreement

Eligible scenarios and excluded transactions

Eligible scenarios

Evidence of successful pickup
For In-store pickup items, the identity of the person collecting the item must be validated with a photo ID. The seller must provide evidence that includes all of the following:

  • Order ID number
  • Item number
  • Item title
  • Amount paid
  • Date of collection
  • Buyer's signature confirming collection
  • Address of pickup store or location

For items that are collected directly from the seller, evidence that the buyer has received the item may include:

  • A copy of the eBay order details, signed by the buyer at the time of collection, or
  • The seller used the eBay app toscan the buyer's QR codeor manually entered the buyer's 6-digit pickup code at the time of collection

Re: Community Chat, November 17 @ 1:00 pm PT - General Topics

I was disappointed in the response last week. I was reporting a bug, a problem. I am finding foreign currency amounts mixed into Payout detail and Payment transaction reports. Displaying a conversion rate is not sufficient. Actually, it is not displayed, an extra click is required. It was necessary to build a complex spreadsheet to balance a Payout with fifteen transactions, three foreign. In the future, before quoting from eBay help pages, why not try it yourself.

Is anyone at eBay interested in finding out what happens after a sale? When eBay started deducting fees from payments, it became necessary to balance revenue (sale amounts), fees, and the amount paid to track cash flow and enter proper amounts into Quicken or Quickbooks to determine profit and loss. Has no one noticed that the sale amounts and fees are not totaled in the Payout summary page and the Payout detail page. If totals existed, it would soon be clear that mixed dollar, Euro, and British Pound amounts cannot be added together.  While eBay documentation gives a hint at this, it does not give a path for sellers to quickly and reliably determine actual sales and fees amounts. I suggest that the hosts of this board try processing Managed Payments reports with multiple transactions in each payment for concurrent sales US eBay and foreign sites and report back here.

@clarkphilatelics wrote:

Last week and maybe before I posted a Managed Payments issue which I believe is a design error. While eBay help pages state that some Managed Payments amounts may be reported as foreign currency amounts, did anyone consider the consequences? To be clear, this is a subtle error and will occur only if US sellers happen to sell items on a foreign eBay site like eBay.de.  I have contacted the vendor that translates listings, but their response is helplessness.

The Seller Hub Transactions page has six columns: "Date", "Description", "Amount", "Fees", "Net", and "Details".

The "Details" column provides a link to fee details related to the transaction.  The "Date" and "Description" columns post the transaction date and a description of the sold item. The "Amount" column should be the sales price. The "Fees" column totals fees for the transaction and the "Net" amount is the payment for the transaction. Unfortunately, the Managed Payments transaction detail page does not total the "Net" and "Fees" amounts for transactions bundled into the payment. For volume sellers, each daily payment could have hundreds of transactions.

Is this bad enough? Not when some of the "Amount" and "Fee" values are in foreign currencies. Can eBay correct the amount for 1099-K reporting? If so,, why not share the information with sellers?

Also, as reported last week, foreign currency amounts find their way into Managed Payments reports, Combined transaction amounts are marked, but individual transaction amounts in multiple-item transactions are not marked.

Please see sanitized excerpt from the transactions report:

Transactions currency mix

Hey @clarkphilatelics! For any payments received from sales on items listed directly on other international sites, the buyer’s payment will be converted and paid out in your payout currency or your selected currency upon registration. The conversion rate will be displayed in the order details - and is the same conversion rate that will be used should a full or partial refund be issued at a later date.

As for your 1099 concern with international sales, I appreciate the feedback and will pass it on to the payments team. I'm not sure as to whether or not I'll hear back, but please know that this will have been bubbled up.

Velvet,

Why is eBay going even further out of their way to sabotage sellers by putting incorrect info in our listings?  The "About this product" section you are inserting information that isn't correct, and can't be changed.  I can't even remove the box from the listing.  I'm not your slave and don't work for free so before you tell me to update your catalog at my expense maybe you should learn some ethics.

Hi @gwzcomps - I'm sorry to hear that this doesn't have information that matches the item you listed for sale. As you know, the best way to report this is to notify sdsupport@ebay.com. I'll send this over to them for further review.

Right, I understand that, but I would suggest that you read the sequence of events that the OP described (here), because the issue they are describing is that eBay refused to accept the specific evidence that (1) they had requested, and (2) appeared to be what the credit-card issuer was indeed looking for. Because eBay refused to accept the signed order form, it obviously would not have been passed on to the outfit that had requested it.

This additional quote from the Customer Service rep seems especially ironic: "To further escalate the appeal, I would request you to please reply to this email with the signed eBay order form. Once this is received, we'll quickly get working on this and make sure that you are not at loss even after successfully fulfilling the transaction."

Hopefully the seller can at least be made whole with a courtesy refund after all this, and the Customer Service people can get a bid of coaching about not rejecting the very evidence that was requested.

It is my belief that Item Specifics should be used to build the item description. Finding Item Specifics after the fact is inherently backwards. Stamps are described in catalogs. Catalog descriptions become Item Specifics. They should not come from eBay.
