@starting_5

I, too, will wait for Trinton's current reply on this issue. But it was addressed: If you have in your listing from a pet free smell free environment and a buyer claims "smell or pet." Then the buyer can file a claim. If you do not post that in your listings, no claim. However, most claims by buyers are honored no matter what the problem. But hopefully Trinton can address this issue about smoke smell again. I do have a copy of the last ebay statement made about smells.

One for the suggestion box:

On sending offers to buyers from messages, one inconvenience when a buyer is asking for free shipping (high percentage of buyers will ask) is that in order to set to free shipping it can be pretty cumbersome when using a third party tool (channel advisor) to list items on the site. It would be nice to have a check box for free shipping next to the box where you enter the value of the offer.

Hey, Trinton. Not so much seller related, but why all of a sudden the threads do not show who replied last? What was the reason for the change? Many times if I know a seasoned seller is referenced, or even an eBay employee, I may just pass by that particular thread. Now seems I am doing tons of clicks to read. Just asking.

Hi @abfabvintage,

This is a bug we're currently working to fix. Hope to have it resolved very soon.

Thanks!

Hi,

Sometime in the last couple of weeks there were changes made to the search engine, apparently in the "search expansion" coding.  Doesn't seem to matter whether it's best match or lowest price selected.  There are several threads noting the huge increase in non-matching items being returned at the top of the listing.

As I noted in this thread

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Another-example-of-broken-search/td-p/29839362

There are multiple items with the exact 6 search terms in their titles, but none appear higher than #47 on the first return page.

Two posters stated they get 39 returned matches when they search, but I've touched base with several other sellers and friends and they get the same results I do. About 1400 matches but most aren't what was search for.

Buyers are not going to wade through pages of non-matching items, they are going to assume if they are not at or near the top of page 1 that no one is selling them and move on to the next site.

Whatever the most recent changes to the search expansion code should be at the least closely reviewed and at best rolled back.

Please push this to the appropriate tech team, if buyers can't see our items in search, sales will continue to fall.

Hello all,

I'm following up on a problem first reported back at the beginning of the month, where someone rolled out a new Shipping confirmation message that's basically missing all the data for the shipment, making recordkeeping very difficult. brian@ebay has said that he will be following up on this, first reported two weeks ago, so we're hoping that you might have an update from the Shipping team on progress toward restoring this.

Basically, a lot of the emailed information you would keep for your Shipping record is simply missing. Comparing the sparse new version (left, below) to the old (below right; personal data redacted) makes the oversights glaringly obvious:

New (left) vs. Old (right) Shipping Confirmation recordsNew (left) vs. Old (right) Shipping Confirmation records

Items missing from the new confirmation message include:

  • Listing title of sold item, and listing number
  • Tracking number
  • Ship-To: address
  • Shipped From address
  • Sale price
  • Listing end date and time
  • Buyer's ID

It's really not much of a "Summary" at all; it barely shows anything specific to the sale.

There is a generic link back to the Manage Shipping Labels page, but (significantly) there is no direct link to the specific item transaction for which this label was generated, so once you get back to that page, you still don't know which item to look at. Furthermore, the Manage Shipping Labels page cannot display any record older than 90 days, so beyond that point, it's gone.

Also, in a somewhat bizarre detail, the Payment Method shown as "PayPal" in that email is provided as a hyperlink, but clicking on that does not lead to the buyer's purchase, or the label purchase, or anything similar. Instead, clicking on it will pop up a Send Money window (?) soliciting money to be sent to Feedback at eBay (??). I have no idea what this is supposed to achieve:

PayPal link from the "Service Summary" messagePayPal link from the "Service Summary" message

The new notification message does not deliver anything remotely useful, and the details missing from that will soon be gone completely if the seller does not manually copy the records out of eBay, something that we should not need to do.

eBay really needs to show the old notification message to the programmers responsible for the new one, and direct them to fill in the missing details. Thanks.

Oh, goody. After reading a subsequent post here that you made some changes, but it is on the Community Platform (don't go there very often), I thought I missed something. Thank you for getting it fixed!

Sending Offers to Buyers:

I would truly like to use this feature more, but for some reason eBay is throttling my efforts.

Over the last 14 days, 82% to 99% of my watched listings are 'not eligible to send offers'

When I have done my calculations, I have excluded those items that do not have at least 2 1/2 days left, the ones I have sent offers to and the ones I don't want to send offers to.

So what exactly makes an item/watcher combination ineligible?

Will there ever be anything in writing to explain this?

Hi @postcardcountry, if the buyers who are watching an item have elected to not receive these kinds of offers then you won't be able to send offers on those items. While the listing may be eligible, the watchers are not, so it will return an error message when attempting to send an offer.

That being said, I'm happy to take a look at any examples you may have. Feel free to share an item number with me here so I can take a look and see what might be going on.

Hi,

As a seller, I have a late return for a garment doesn’t fit case that I'm unsure how to deal with.

Item purchased 4/14/19

Shipped 4/14/19

Delivered 4/19/19

Return requested & accepted 5/7/19

Ebay message said they’ve asked the buyer to ship the item by May 14 or they may close the case.  I thought ebay would auto close case, but they didn't.

Buyer did not send back within 5 days

USPS Return Acceptance 5/20/19 (past the 30 day return policy).

Since I had a 30 day return policy listed on this item,  I thought they couldn't return it after 30 days.  Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi @pursesbrasplusmore - thanks for taking care of the return request for your customer! If you've accepted the return and the buyer fails to ship the item back to you within the time frame specified you can ask us to step into the return and we can close the request out. We will not automatically step into a return request without being asked to by one party or the other.

If the item is on its way back to you and you receive it, I'd hope you'd consider working with the buyer to get the situation resolved to your mutual satisfaction. This is particularly relevant as buyers have other avenues of protection outside of eBay (PayPal, financial institutions, etc) that we do not have control over. Thanks!

Hi there and thanks for taking my question.  My eBay developer account has been suspended/banned and we are out of business until we can figure out what has happened.  All I was able to get was the following:

"eBay has determined that you have violated the eBay Developers Program Terms of Use and API License Agreement.
Consequently, your license to use eBay’s Developer Tools and Application Programming Interfaces has been revoked and your developer accounts terminated  "

After that email they also terminated his developers personal account.  He had to use his personal developer account because when you are banned you cannot open a ticket unless you have an account and my account was banned as well.  There is not way at this point for me to get in touch with the eBay developers to hopefully see what the issue is and if there is a way to fix this problem.  We tried responding to
_EDP_CSPORTAL@ebay  but there was no response to multiple emails.

On 5/15/19 we were suspended by the ePN Staff without notice or follow up. I am hoping we can see what we did to see if there was a possibility to be reinstated? We started this exclusive project 6 months ago and have so for put in about $40,000 building it. We have always practiced white hat procedures but we also know that mistakes do happen and were hoping to see what we did to potentially be out of business just like that.

The only thing that is scary about joining the eBay Affiliate network (If this is standard procedure) is if you do something wrong then you will not be warned, you will not receive follow,   you will only be banned and everyone inquiring in your behalf will be banned as well.   This is what is happening to me.

Please let me know if there is anything we can do to fix this.  Thanks in advance.

Hi @yild_123, unfortunately this is outside of the Community teams scope to assist with (it's also outside of what customer service can assist with). The API team offer's direct support for issues and they revoke access themselves. If they've determined that a serious enough violation occurred then they will revoke access. My understanding is this is a final decision when made.

I have none of that in my listing. My feedback does not reflect a "smell" problem". When I try to reference what trinton stated in the forum, the CS rep sounds surprised as if she has no idea what I'm talking about.

Hi Alan, Thanks for the Community changes you mentioned, posted to the Community Platform Board. Believe me, I am grateful So, I almost hate to mention it, but.......the Notification Bell? The one at the very top? The Priority- to- get -it -fixed one? Any chance that I will see it working in my lifetime? Or, maybe you should just remove it, since it hasn't worked for many, many months now. I'm an optimist by nature, so I do click on it every now and then, with the faint hope that it will be working, but.....my hope is crushed again and again, and I am enveloped in a dark and bleak despair, so dark and bleak that there are days nothing but chocolate can save me from tossing myself off the nearest bridge. Please, Alan, get this fixed. I'm never going to lose weight otherwise.

😂😂😂

Please stay safe and enjoy the chocolate!

This fix is complex. Doug has been working around the clock for months trying to get this resolved but he's yet to be successful. We're so disappointed in him we put him down in the basement until he gets this fixed. He's pretty hungry. If you have any chocolate you'd like to donate, please send to eBay HQ.

I do feel the pain on this issue and it remains our top priority. We are closer to a fix but I'm unable to provide an ETA on that.

Thanks for your patience 🤝

Not a question but a comment - I'm not able to leave feedback for my buyers. I leave feedback but it doesn't go through. Maybe want to pass that on to the tech team.

Thanks guys!
