Only people who enjoy selling on eBay anymore are the ones that eBay isn't throttling. Pretty sure there is a "marketplace" that will solve that issue though.

Problem with Store Page Billboard (Note: I use Google Chrome):

I occasionally replace my regular Store "Billboard" with a Billboard announcing a sale I'm running or to present a seasonal greeting, etc. I create my billboards in canva, so creating the billboard isn't an issue. The problem arises when I go to replace the old
billboard with the new one. This used to be a simple process. Go to my store home page, click on "Manage My Store" above the billboard, and then , on that page, on the left hand side under Store Management, Store Design, click "Edit Store".

So far, so good. The "edit store" page shows my billboard, and I then hover over the upper right hand corner of my billboard, and click "Add Image".  The way this used to work was, this would remove my current billboard and provide an opportunity yo upload my newly created image from my computer's "download" page, or wherever I had stored the downloaded canva jpg. Wait a short amount of time, and the new billboard would appear, and then I could click "publish", and....done! Easy peasy.

But since around the first of the year, maybe end of last year, it hasn't been easy. It seems Google considers this insecure, and I have not been able to upload my new image. I finally tried MS Edge instead of Chrome and ran into the same problem, although with Edge I found what appears to be a workaround. Both Google and Edge view this as insecure, but with Edge, I could override Edge's objection.

I won't go into detail about how I did that. The point is, I should not NEED to do that. Apparently, there is something screwed up on eBay's end which is why both Google and Edge are identifying this as a security issue. Could you pass this to the proper team and get this resolved? This is especially important given that ebay doesn't provide any very good way to announce that I'm running a sale, for example, and I therefore use my billboard to make such announcements , per ebay's recommendation.

Hi @my-cottage-books-and-antiques - not sure what could be causing this. Will you let me know exactly where in the chain you get the 'page unsecure' notice from Chrome?

Will you try once more, only this time access the Manage my Store link from your Seller Hub Summary page (screenshot below)? Let me know if that changes anything.

I saw that response and you closed the chat before I could respond.

I'm not sure what an item number is supposed to do for you since A.) that would reveal my seller account (which is not this account) and B.) I've already told you, it is CONFIRMED I'm being overcharged.

I want the bat phone to someone your company didn't place their to be intentionally incompetent.

Several months ago, I noticed a fee of $7 for the same upgrade to several listings, that had persisted for three months before I saw it..
I NEVER turn that on, and I ALWAYS check before I list or relist an item that the fee is $0.00.
So eBay is setting it for me, and then charging me for it. Grrr.

Hi @vrykalak, as with all reports for issues related to a listing or fee, we need an item number to review this. We do not apply optional listing upgrades ourselves, but we can review if you provide an item number to discuss.

Hello. I am thrilled to participate in the chat. I have been checking out the conversations every week. I have been impressed with the caliber of information , along with having it presented in clear informed manner.

As I am NOT in pacific time, it can be challenge to be here real time.

And that is topic of my question....

Why oh why won't all areas of ebays site function with time zone specific references to date and time.

When I create shipping labels via Buy Delivery, the time is current to my location. When tracking scan are uploaded, again, current to my zone (even when delivery scan is in zone that is not mine).

Can we get all selling functions to be cohesive on timelines?

Not only have I had some listing gaffs from being muddled about actual time, but even just now, I noticed this reply Auto saved with a message at top of my screen that informed me it occured at 3:22 PM.

EBay pleasing themselves and adding " Best Offer " To our listings.

This is a pathetic process that EBay have just decided it's a good idea to edit our listings and add the " Best Offer " to our listings without our consent or approval.

The listings we place and set the price for is our property, It is up to us what price we would like to set for these items and if we would like to accept lower offers than the price we have set for them.

EBay adding " Best Offer " to our listing without our consent or approval is a pathetic practice that should be stopped asap.

This practice is very frustrating and very time consuming to sellers who do not wish to have " Best Offer " on their listings and have to spend time going through each listing to remove the " Best Offer " that you have added to our listings without our consent or approval, Further more it is very annoying receiving messages informing us you have added this function, and receiving messages informing us that buyers have made a offer on the items that you have added " Best Offer " without our consent or approval. This is a total waste of our time and extremely frustrating.

This is also causing frustration to buyers who think the seller is accepting Best Offers on the Item only to find when they submit a offer the seller declines the offer because they do not wish to accept offers as they have already set the price at the price they are willing to sell it for.

EBAY MUST STOP ADDING " BEST OFFER " TO OUR LISTINGS WITHOUT OUR APPROVAL OR CONSENT.

If we want to accept " Best Offer " on our listings we would add it to the listings ourselves.

Hi @merivalady, we don't currently have any plans to change how this process works. I'm happy to give some information about this feature, such as when it's added and why we add it. For new or occasional sellers, we apply Best Offer if the item is listed above the recommended price, or does not sell within 8 days.

The reason this feature is added is because we've seen an increase in sales and buyer activity on listings when this feature is active. For example, we are seeing a 10-15% increase in buyer engagement, such as placing offers, messaging etc. and a recorded 10% increase in conversion. Ultimately, our goal is to help new and/or occasional sellers increase sales.

When you change an item from Fixed Price to Auction, the Fixed Price becomes the Buy it Now price, which means Best Offer is illegal. Could the system please TURN OFF Best Offer in this situation?
Also, the default Auction length is 7 days. I want it to be 10 days. Is there any way I can make that happen automatically?

Hi @vrykalak, can you give an item number example for this? We'll be happy to review something specific if you can provide it. As for changing the default option in the listing form, it looks like when I went to create an auction in your account the duration is defaulted to 10 days. Can you tell me where you are seeing something different?

---
Almost all of the 100 Auctions that are currently active in my account--except the ones that are specifically for Valentines Day--exhibited this problem.
When I changed them from Fixed Price to Auction, I had to change the duration from 7 to 10 days, and turn off "Best Offer" manually.

Re: Community Chat, January 15 @ 1:00 pm PT - General Topics

the QUOTE button has disappeared from the reply page.
This happened for the first time last week.

Also, when I tried to answer your reply, and copied the original post into the REPLY field, then added my reply, it vanished when I tried to post it, and gave me an error message saying something about not having authority to post to that page.

Hi @mihu-5160, you are welcome to start a thread about this topic and @mention a member of the team so we can review for you if the chat has already been closed. As for an item number, since you are talking about a fee which is related to a listing, an item number would allow us to review the fee you are discussing, and let us investigate the issue you describe. I'm not certain what help I can provide to you if you aren't comfortable sharing details that would connect to your selling account. This board is not a venue for airing general frustrations, but instead a place for you to ask the eBay Community Team to address specific questions, report issues, or clarify policy. While you indicate you've received confirmation of being overcharged, it seems like you haven't received a resolution on the issue since you've shared the details here.

Again, happy to help if you can provide a specific example 🙂

Thanks Tyler! I have no idea why doing it from the other link creates a problem, but going from Seller Hub, it worked fine in Chrome.

That is the inherent problem with eBay.  Their people think they know what is best for the sellers, when they have no idea how selling works.  Wouldn't need to try to force best offers if the site had a functional search engine.  Wouldn't need more engagement if the buyers could find the items easier.  With the number of complaints in this week's thread obviously people aren't liking this policy.  I could see how it would be annoying to get a bunch of lowball offers on something a person didn't want offers on.

I appreciate this answer and feel it is accurate.  While this issue does not affect me personally as a seller, I can certainly see why those that it does feel passionately about Ebay doing this.

IMHO it is not Ebay's place to do this.  Ebay is a venue.  Setting pricing is not within Ebay's job duties.  That is solely the Seller's responsibility.

I get it that Ebay stats may show an increase in sales with the use of this function.  Ebay's reaction to that should be to better educate its sellers on these facts, NOT to summarily change a seller's listing, without permission because in Ebay's viewpoint it is in the best interest of selling the listing.  Again, not Ebay's job.  That is the sellers.

This policy alienates some sellers with Ebay.  That is going to be costly too.  Ebay needs to be doing things to INCREASE trust with its sellers and this, plain and simple, does the opposite.

Re: Community Chat, January 15 @ 1:00 pm PT - General Topics

How about this:

You message me to this account directly thru the messenger. And then, you give me information on how to contact someone who will actually fix this. Seems logical, right?

Nobody has any questions for eBay on here every week otherwise because, there are many more like me who have to be dreadfully intoxicated to spend any significant time around here.  I clearly stated right off that I didn't have any desire to use this venue because it's clearly not the venue, but your actual, badged venue of "customer service" is a dumpster fire eBay intentionally created.
