I have a question about yesterday's announcement re. APV.

"With APV, overpaid postage is automatically credited back to senders’ balance, meaning sellers will not overpay for postage."

Where will the credit be applied? On PayPal, on eBay?

Hi @beaglecooks

Overpayment on postage returned to eBay from USPS will be placed back on the PayPal account originally used to purchase the label.

Thanks.

Will Ebay send us an email notification of the refund or will PP.  Or will we just get to be pleasantly surprised.

We sell automotive parts. However we also sell a "Service" where the customer ships us their part for service.

No where in the listing can I make it so I will not get dinged on shipping metrics.

Needs a service listing in auto parts

Hi @bigmotormania - the purpose is ultimately to make the Seller Hub the one place you come to for selling, account research and order fulfillment. I can see why you wouldn't find it particularly helpful as those extra clicks add up! I can make sure that your feedback is heard. 🙂

I just like having the choice.

I understand your wanting to expand the seller hub, but, taking away my choice to use the list pages in lieu of what I consider most convenient is bothersome and seems pointless and arbitrary in my opinion.

I notice that eBay is now providing a 60-day return window.  How does this mesh with the maximum 30-day window to open a return request or other complaint?    How would a buyer be able to leave feedback after 60 days?  How would making a Paypal refund be possible after 60 days? ~~C~~

I've discussed this within the community already, just looking for an assist: SOME of us recently lost the ability within Seller Hub to sort Active Listings by the Views column. Some didn't lose that ability (including one wife's Seller Hub lost that sort option, while her husband's Seller Hub didn't) , and some sellers think they never had it. For me, the Views column still is sortable on the Ended & Unsold listings pages. It seems the frame/coding was altered/broken only on the Active Listings page of Seller Hub, and that now-broken code is deployed only for some sellers. Please fix it....

Hi @dcintennessee

Thanks for flagging this, we'll send the details to the Seller Hub team.

Yes that is certainly what they have been telling us.  But they have never answered if we will be able to keep as many listings as we can currently in TL.  Or how long will it retain them.  Will we be able to catagorize them like we can currently in TL.  One of the biggest reasons that TL is so popular with sellers is that they can work with the program outside of Ebay and retain the listings off Ebay.  There are quite a few advantages with the TL program for sellers that can not bring into the Seller's Hub.  Which then forces sellers to use a 3rd party program and most that can handle more than a handful of listings cost money to use.  Some are quite expensive.

Alan. One of my biggest frustrations is the continued reduction of payment methods for customers.  I have listed to the reasons of some payment forms don't protect the buyer. Well let them decide if they still want to purchase. eBay in other countries accept such a wide variety of payment options, I would have thought eBay US would be the leader in that area, but we are not.

I have tried to figure out how to help my customers but now with the IPR also forced on me during this "test".... Many of these forms of payment are money in eBay's pocket. Instead of saying well I'll leave that one alone. How about embrace the idea that there should be more choices than there are right now. Bank Transfers, Layaways, Checks, etc.

Hi @warrenshobbies  - there isn't a current announcement I'm aware of on this. I did see a thread discussing it and will be looking into it in more detail to try to get to the bottom of what's happening. Thanks!

Hi @automotivepartsrecyclrs, we had a recap meeting on eBay Open this morning, and that was brought up as feedback. We've done larger regional seller meetings in the past. For now, eBay Open is committed to Vegas for the next couple of years, but I know the feedback as to looking into other areas is being considered.

Thanks!

Why not a Ebay open 2017 for west coast and later in the year for us on the east coast? Kinda hard to travel across the USA.

As a locked in East Coaster, that's sad to hear.  and while I can see not doing 2 a year why can't you alternate, one year West Coast and one year East Coast.

Unless of course it's true that ebay doesn't love us rowdy East Coasters..

Welcome Back - hope you all enjoyed Vegas and TY for providing those of us who couldn't go with the pod casts.

Question - I'll be going on vacation at the end of Aug. I usually hide my items - but when I put them to view again - it seems that they need to re-index all over again and sales are very slow for about a month.

Do you lose your place in rotation because the items are hidden?

Hey @tunicaslot - if you put your items on Vacation hold and block purchases, when you bring items back after vacation the items will re-index, which could take up to 24 hours to get back into search.

Just got back from vacation Tuesday. I am noticing the slowness.

Me too.  I just returned on Sunday.

I also just returned from vacation, and I did put my store on vacation during the 10 days off.  However, I choose not to hide my items and instead increased my handling time on all items to 10 days for the duration.  I haven't seen any slowness (or increase) in sales during or after my trip.  The only downside was having all the orders to ship when I got back..... and of course, resetting the items back to my normal handling time.

That would be because your listings did not have to re-index.  Ours did, which has caused the slow sales upon returning from vacation.  You chose a different route than the rest of us did.

Re: Community Chat, Aug 2nd @ 1pm PT - General Topics

TY for your opinion - I have considered just extending my handling time for the duration of my vacation - the only thoughts I have is receiving poor feedback due to shipping time - if the buyer does not read the entire listing and assumes the item will be mailed sooner - I also would be afraid that in case of a car problem or other incident that would delay us - I would not be able to get the items shipped in time.

I'm still on the fence!

there can be other content (failure) in the page that prevents the page from shrinking, including table code, embedded CSS, long unbreakable words, and long runs of underscores or dots.

GOOD POINT! I'll check all my templates to be sure all text sizes are scalable and all table widths are percentages. Sometimes Frontpage changes those on me, and I don't notice it.
Question: what is the screen width in pixels for the mobile app?

True, but mind are only being affected with I do the Fix to the meta tag too.  If I don't do that, the shrinking of the description is just fine.  And it doesn't happen all the time, only most of the time.  I don't know which is more important.  The meta tag or shrinking the description.

I recently discovered a new function on the listing form when I’m revising a listing.  I think it is a HANDY tool, but I’m not sure it is working correctly.  It is just above the description on the right side.

It says:  New! Mobile-Friendly Checker

If you click on that you come to a screen that has 3 tabs at the top.

  1. Mobile View
  2. Active Content
  3. Non-compliant Links

It defaults Mobile View as it is the first tab.  It then may state you are OK or it may state “Your Listing Isn’t Quite Mobile-Friendly”.  If your listing isn’t mobile ready there are 2 sections that will show up.

Image Exceeds Screen Width

Images should fit the maximum width of the screen to prevent horizontal scrolling.

Then you can click on “Fix It For Me” if you want this fixed.

And / Or

Viewport meta tag incorrectly or missing.

This tag should be included in the header for the font size in your item description to be legible on a mobile device.

Then you can click on “Fix It For Me” if you want this fixed.

Once you click on the Fix it link, the Image exceeds screen width changes to a green check mark w/ the words No Horizontal Scrolling.

If you fix the “viewport meta tag…”  It changes to a green check mark w/ Viewport Meta tag correctly set.

Now my problem is that SOMETIMES when I do this, the Horizontal scrolling changes back to a red exclamation point, I lose the green check mark.  The pic of the phone that is on the screen also changes back to my description not fitting on the phone screen without scrolling to the right.  You’d have to scroll to see the entire description.

I have not found the logic to why it does this sometimes and other times it doesn’t.

Hi @mam98031 - I'm not sure what the logic would be in having the tool work this way. That said, it's something we'll have to have access to your account to review. If you haven't yet, I would recommend contacting our customer service teams: https://ocsnext.ebay.com/ocs/cuhome?from_ocs=1 when it happens again. They'll be able to review what may be causing it and what we need to do to have it resolved.

So this is only happening to my account?

I haven't come across this personally so I can't confirm but I'm sure others could be running into it as well. Without having access to your account here on the Boards, however, I'm not able to troubleshoot this with you but our customer service teams should be able to.

Thank you. It is easier for buyers and sellers if ebay would make an announcement so we can send a link to buyer. A seller telling a buyer "yeah we sent it but ebay isn't working right" just seems shady to some people.

I wholeheartedly agree that TL is more useful than any thing I've seen in Seller Hub.  And I'm NOT going to pay for a 3rd party tool.  It's insanity.

How am I supposed to list in next winter's storm when MY tree takes out MY cable line but not my power?  How is my friend in West Armpit Okla.supposed to list when her satelite dish blows off her roof and she has to wait 6 days to get reconnected?

Come on ebay stop being stubborn and bring TL up to speed (include allowing us to enlarge it so we can read it without magnifying lens taped to the computer screen)
