@spidermantat

For our protection, eBay will ask us  to verify ourselves from time to time.
It’s a bleeping good thing.

They want to make sure that you are you.

How does it make any sense for Ebay to make me validate that I am not a Bot right after I win an auction and want to pay? Find me a Bot that will pay for my transactions. When I am purchasing I am in multiple auctions at the same time and this action makes me lose other auctions.

eBay wants to make sure you are the actual account holder before letting you pay for your auction using your stored payment information.

If someone else got access to your computer and tried to buy something using your eBay account and your payment information, would you not want eBay to check first by requesting a password before letting them proceed?

Part of requesting password information is a simple bot screening process to prevent scammers from using a bot to try different passwords one after the other until a password matches. This helps to protect your account from being hijacked.
