at first i thought that maybe eBay is actually ongoing a maintenance as indicated in the main ebay homepage i'm getting.
so i thought to myself okay that seems logical, i'll come back later.
a day has passed and still the site does not seem to work, whenever i search for something i'm getting a "page not found" ebay screen.
so that seemed REALLY odd to me, i decided to try and clean my cache and cookies because i thought perhaps something might have gotten corrupt, however that still didn't help.
so i then tried a different browser (i use opera, so i tried safari since i'm on a macbook) and still got the same issues.
so then i went and checked it on my windows desktop pc, and it seems to work just fine there.
i then tried to connect my macbook to a different network (a 4G hotspot from my phone) and ebay started working again just fine on my macbook.
i really have no idea what is causing ebay to block my macbook on my home network but not any other computer on my home network and not my macbook on any other internet network?
this has been going on like this for the past week and it is extremely frustrating that i am basically unable to access ebay on my macbook without having to resort to using a 4G hotspot from my phone...
why is this happening and how can i fix this?

It would seem that there is something about your current macbook's connection to your local network that is causing a problem for eBay. I do not have much direct experience with macs, but is it possible you somehow set up a firewall, or blocked eBay somehow or turned off some essential network service that eBay needs to operate?
I once managed to block traffic from the network where eBay stores item images, and I could not see any item pictures until I figured out what I had done and then undid it.
If that were happening to me, I might consider trying to disconnect your macbook from your network entirely, deleting or "forgetting" that network connection, and then setting up an entirely new network connection to your network on your macbook.

its unlikely that this is related to my mac's firewall settings as i've been using a program called "little snitch" for my mac's firewall for the past couple of years and it had never affected ebay.
it also wouldn't really make since this is firewall related since ebay is working just fine on my macbook whenever i use any other internet network other than the one at my home.
i tried to "forget" my home wifi network and reconfiguring it but that also did not seem to help at all.
i am really at a loss here 😕

If you temporarily disable "little snitch" are you able to navigate eBay successfully?

does not seem to change anything.
in fact i even went ahead as far as completely deleting this program and restoring all of my mac's networking settings to default and still nothing 😕

One longshot possibility: a problem with a wireless router or ethernet switch assignment table can cause odd network issues. Rebooting a switch or router might shake something loose.

tried that, still not working.
i also went to a family relative house and tried on his home network and still getting the same issues.
which is odd, because when i am at work and using my work's wifi network ebay is working fine, and when i use a 4G hotspot from my smartphone the ebay website is also working just fine.
i really have no idea how to fix this

they do have the same ISP but live over 110km away.
i did find out that for some reason ebay started working again for me in Safari, in my home network, but not with Opera Browser and i'm not sure why, out of curiosity i redownloaded Opera and reinstalled it and it seems to specifically not work with Opera at all now, but it would work just fine with Safari.
however i personally hate Safari, and think Chrome is a horrible browser so i have been using Opera for the past 10+ years.
oddly enough like i mentioned earlier ebay seems to work just fine on my desktop windows PC which i also use Opera Browser on. so i really have no idea what is wrong here

Hi! I am having a very similar issue. Both my desktop and laptop use safari and are on the same network, my laptop will load the website properly but the desktop will not. Of note, another user in the same household is having the exact same problem. I have cleared history, cookies, caches etc. I have not tried using another browser on my desktop yet, but that is my next step. Thanks for your post, it helps to know I am not the only one.

eBay has become very unstable in the last week or two. I sporadically keep getting the page shown above -- "we've looked everywhere...".
This is the most unstable I've seen eBay in the last 20+ years!
