unable to buy from Diecast models from outside the UK

Why is eBay Blocking the Uk from buying diecast models from America, Europe etc? After being with eBay nearly since it started in UK i'm thinking of closing my account down. 

Anyone out there having the same problems?

And you're sure that it's eBay that's blocking those sales, rather than some individual sellers who perhaps don't want to sell and ship internationally?

The problem may be legal rather than technical.

Certain categories -- particularly toys -- may need to meet new laws in order to be shipped internationally to certain countries.

eBay is blocking a lot of toys to the UK through eBay International Shipping @gaspumpgary . They posted this info on the eIS page:

Items that are shipped to buyers in the UK need to comply with all applicable UK laws and regulations. We have put measures in place to prevent US items that may not comply with UK regulations, such as CE Certification and/or Plugs and Sockets Regulations, from being sold to buyers in the UK.
