postal code error in ebay code.

I use for a decade the same postal code in my listings on ebay. 4824jc. I can list new items with this postal code, no hastle. But as soon as I do a revision of the item the postal code is rejected. With error message

Error: Postal code is not valid. (737)

When I go in the listing on ebay and change the postal code to 4824 JC the error is gone.

I also noticed that revisions to the description does not register even when I have changed the postal code first.

I use lister to add items to ebay. I also use them to revise the listings.

I noticed that ebay picks up on the revisions, when I go into the listing I do see them in the description and if I then do a revision in ebay they still not register. I have to actually go into the description and mouse over it and then when I do a revision it will revise the description.

Other revision through lister like SKU or title a.s.o. register just fine. Just not the description. since it is in the listing just not registering it looks to me as an ebay issue just like the postal code.

I have informed ebay support of the issues but they took the easy way out and blamed it all on the third party software, and I am pretty sure it is not an issue for them.  And stopped answering my emails trying to get their attention. Thats the real thank you to my years of being loyal to ebay, which they remind me of in every response.

I learned today from the support team of lister, (one of the best in the business) that they have more users experiencing the same problem.  Which is a kind of relief that it is not just me!

can somebody at ebay look into these issues and do not come with the excuse it is third party software that is causing it.

thank you.

Henri

postal code error in ebay code.

The postal code is likely eBay making the programming and location verification more accurate. You can do a bulk update on the item location postal code and that should take care of that.

The other issues need to be addressed with the third party lister. You're making the changes through them so if they're not populating to eBay you need to to through the lister's tech support. If there's an issue with the connection to eBay then the lister needs to sort it out and first rule out issues on their end before addressing with eBay, and they are the ones that need to address with eBay (if the issue is with eBay).

postal code error in ebay code.

Hi,

Thank you for explaining.  I would agree with you on the postal code if it was not that the original postal code that is valid for as long as I work on ebay. (27 years) with the same place of business  is accepted still with new listings.  It is only rejected on revising items. If what you says is the case then it would behave on new listings the same way.

I have looked for the bulk tool if I can update it there,  but that part of the listing where the postal code is located, the preference section, is not included in the selection you can make for bulk update. We are talking about 5400 plus items, that is a lot of manual work if you have to do that. But f you know where it can be done in bulk edit then please let me know, all for solving this issue that way.

WP Lister tech support has looked into both issues to check if they happen on their end, and they are not. The changes to ebays description are registered by the plugin and communicated to ebay, and are not recognized as such by ebay. If both say it is not on my end, then nothing happens.  Because the change to  the description is transmitted to ebay and received, but not registering. Users of the lister program are not aware of the fact that they are not registering and have a false sense of security that the changes come through. It could cause later havoc with buyers. But if we only end up pointing the finger to the other nothing changes.  I have been on the case with the tech support of Lister. They ruled out it is on their end.

Therefore I ask here on this forum for users of WP lister to check if changes to the description on ebay are registering for them.  It would mean a great deal to me to find out if more users are experiencing this with WP lister tool. Or ebay for that matter.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions/concerns.

Henri

It appears that their verification code is being very picky about ensuring that there is a space character between the 4 digits and the following two letters. I did some Googling using your initial string of "4824jc," and in every case the results came back showing it as "4824 JC" instead, so that does appear to be standard practice; e.g.

Yes, the space is not significant in terms of specifying the location, but without that space, some software will flag it as an error.

Thank you for taking the time to answer.

I agree that the better format is 4824 JC. Not sure why it ended up as 4824jc years ago!  What puzzles me is that in a new listing the old format is accepted 4824jc but with a revision of the item the postal code is not accepted. One would think it is not accepted in new listings in the first place. But apparently not.

Thank you.
