only a fraction of the listings are showing

no matter what where or how i search, it only shows a fraction

For instance I went on a site and typed "beads" it  said it had 215 items, but  it only showed me less than 25

Then I went to another seller and it said he had 8000 + items but only showed 8  pages( 200 items  a page)

I looked to make certain I had no filters, and no, nothing.

This has been happening for a week now.

Not only is it frustrating for the buyer who is looking for something  quite specific,  but this has got to  be affecting sales

When I do general searches, same thing, only a fraction show up

on a post from earlier today that I cannot reply to because it is marked as solved
the solution was to clear browsing etc

i hate when something as important as this is marked as solved because now eBay IT will ignore the problem

they said it wasn't happening to them because they are using a computer
IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ON ALL THE SEARCHES
for instance if you search 'crystal covered beads' it should show 1080 listings
it only shows less than 200

so now I have to resign into ALL my regular sites

I'm currently seeing the same thing, on both the standard search and advanced search.

The search page says "1080 results" but only two pages (of 100 each) are actually displayed.

Many of those listings are "variation listings", meaning there is a choice...of color, size, quantity etc.  Each one of those choices count as a listing.......so theoretically one could have several or hundreds of "listings" within one actual listing....

i.e. a listing with 5 color choices would count as 5 listings.

By your explanation the search for 'chroma acrylic paint essential' that yields 113 items should actually say over 1000 since each one has multiple color choices, but alas, it doesn't

You are not making any sense and basically adding more confusion. Has some thing changed from the last 16 years i have been using eBay?

This is a saved search i have been using for a year or more. i have always gotten the exact amount posted . if it says 1080 listings i get 1080 items to choose from. i ask for ALL listings in ALL categories.
Whatever you are trying to say, do you really think the average user will understand. Nope, it will just frustrate them

some thing cool actually happened from all these issues with the search engine only showing a fraction of the listings

The choice listings do account for the discrepancy.

Here's a link to a search that produces 65 results; only one listing, but the listing contains two dropdown menus for phone models and case colors. There are eight different phone models, and eight color choices. One model actually has nine color choices -- and that accounts for all 65 results.
