eBay customer service does not remote access your computer, and they don't charge for customer service either.

If either of those have happened, you are not dealing with eBay customer service, you are interacting with a scammer. Did you google eBay customer service? there have been several recent posts about this kind of thing, which appears to be related to scam websites that are thinly disguised scammers offering "eBay customer support" for a fee. Again, eBay customer support does not charge a fee.

I am searching for instructions to end the remote access session, I will post again in a few minutes.

you have been scammed and hacked: this is done from some site not ebay:

One more point is that I have never had an eBay CSR give me their last name.

I didn't find any clear instructions to share, so here are some hints.

When I have done remote access and the IT guy took control, I was able to take control back by clicking on the window for the remote session. Then I could end the session and close the window.

Then, assuming you are using Windows 10, right click on the start button (4 boxes like a window, bottom left of your screen). Hover over "Shut down or sign out" and choose "Disconnect" if that is an option.

If you don't have the "Disconnect" option, then the session is probably disconnected. I recommend that you shut down your computer and restart it, just in case. Choose the "Restart" option.

Once you have gotten rid of the remote access session, log on to your Amazon account and try to cancel the charges. You will probably have to contact Amazon customer service. Do that ONLY through their website, DO NOT google any numbers or use any links that you find on google. Scammers make fake websites that catch victims that way.

As others have said, this was not done by eBay Customer Service. You unfortunately, fell for a phishing scam.

@hoogerjohn  as the others have said, you were not talking to ebay customer service.

Adding my standard hacked account advice.... even though this is NOT a standard hack some of the steps may be useful to you.

Especially contacting CS in steps 6.  Let me know if you are not able to get an agent on the phone.

#1 Run a full scan with your virus software to remove any spyware from your computer.

#2 Go to my ebay> account> addresses and make sure that all information is correct including your cell phone number and registered email

https://accountsettings.ebay.com/uas/addresses

#3 My ebay> account> communication prefrences> delivery options make sure that ALL of the email addresses are correct.

https://my.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbayBeta&CurrentPage=MyeBayNextNotificationPreferences&ssPage...

#4 Change your passwords and secret questions. My ebay> account> sign in and security

https://accounts.ebay.com/acctsec/security-center

#5 Secure your PayPal and email accounts. Change the passwords and secret questions. Be sure to use different passwords and secret questions on eBay, your email, and PayPal. Do not use these passwords on any other account.

#5  If you allowed "quicker checkout" on eBay or other websites (not recommended) you can disable that by logging in to PayPal, then click the gear symbol ⚙ (top right). Click the Security tab, then Auto login at checkout > Update, then disable auto-login for all devices > save the settings

#6 Calling is the only way to report hacked accounts for security reasons.

IF you are outside the US or Canada you will need to use Skype to call.
https://support.skype.com/en/faq/fa10613/how-do-i-make-a-call-on-skype

Select call us from the bottom of this page:
https://www.ebay.com/help/account/protecting-account/get-help-hacked-account?id=4196&st=2&pos=1&quer...

Ask them to check for any other active sessions and to end them all, this is VERY important as it will sign the hacker out of they are using the stay signed in option.

This is where you can ask eBay to remove any transactions from your account and refund your money. Be sure to ask for a credit for sellers fees if the hacker used your account to sell any items.

#7 If you are a seller then be sure to check the email address on any listings as hackers will often change this so that funds from sales go to their paypal account and not yours.

#8 For extra protection consider turning on two-step verification.  It's towards the bottom of this page:

What led you to think it was ebay that was given remote access by you?

You need to shut off allowing remote access on your computer, if you haven't already.

Who knows what the the person who accessed your computer did. While they were pretending to help you, they were looking at any and all files on your computer to steal personal information, passwords, accounts, banking information, emails... anything.

You need to look at all your accounts, see what was available to them to steal from your computer, change passwords and mitigate damages.

You basically opened your front door to a thief and gave them everything on your computer to steal.

You seem to be saying that they used your login information to buy things on amazon with your CC on file, did they change your shipping address?

@hoogerjohn - It doesn't sound like you were talking to eBay, but @comics-scifi-collectibles has given you great information and things to handle this in post #6. This is how you would restore your account if your eBay account has been accessed by an unauthorized party.

During a remote access session, everything the remote person does is visible on the screen. It shows up there exactly as though they were using the keyboard, touchpad and/or mouse in front of you. They can't see anything that isn't on the screen, or look at files or steal personal information without what they are doing being visible on the screen. And passwords etc. can't be "viewed" on your computer because they are encrypted.

As long as OP didn't walk away from the computer while this was going on, they could see everything the remote person did.

Also, you have to grant remote access for this to happen, and you can take control back by clicking on the remote-access window. You can end the remote access by taking control back and closing the window, in all operating systems in my experience.

As I said in my earlier reply, OP probably went through a website that offered "eBay technical support" for a fee, and granted the access in the mistaken belief that this was really eBay. That's why I stressed that REAL eBay customer support doesn't do remote access, and doesn't charge a fee.

By allowing remote connection, they've allowed an Administrative Level access...which includes installing software.

Once they have done so, they are free to run a virus or install malware on their computer, like a "RAT "(remote access Trojan) The computer owner would never know.

That could explain the amazon account theft.

Not necessarily. I have done remote access with IT support, from my job and from my university. In no case were they granted administrative privileges, just the exact same privileges that I had on the computer in question. No more and no less. And in every case, my screen mirrored their screen so I could see exactly what they were doing. They couldn't do anything on any other screens, even when I had multiple screens displayed. They could only see the main screen they had been given remote access to, not the extra screens.

If OP was aware that the remote person had charged $200 on their Amazon account as they said, then they knew it had happened, because they saw it happen. There isn't any hidden or invisible access necessary to explain that, and since OP knew about it, I'm 99.99% sure that it happened while they watched. That's why OP was able to tell us about it. Besides, that's what these so-called "technical support websites" do. They trick the victims into agreeing to let them do it.

There's a simple explanation for this, which is compatible with everything that OP said. There's no need or reason to extrapolate that hidden access was going on without the OP's knowledge.

Fair enough, except that the OP thought it was ebay helping them, why? Probably because that's what the scammer told them.

If the scammer was lying about being with ebay,  planting a virus without the op being aware is entirely plausible, even probable.

Never can be too complacent when dealing with liars and scammers, I would err on the side of caution.

This wasnt ebay you talked to it was scammers posing as ebay they make you install any desk so they can take over your device remotly and drain your cards and accounts. The first thing they ask is what kind of device you have and if you have online banking on the device.

It's a big scam the people in Bangladesh those type of people are the ones that are running it they cannot tell you your screen name they often one or two create some kind of eBay wallet but they're total outcome is to rob you blind of course eBay does nothing about this you would think eBay would get these people and have them arrested they don't at all and that's going to be the fall of eBay real soon ever since they stop taking phone calls and only do stuff through the app now now scammers are taking advantage of it they did the same thing Facebook Marketplace did when they stop taking phone calls they're going to go downhill like offer up and let go people are going to stop using it because there are too many scammers that's what's shut all these apps down when people don't feel comfortable or safe they no longer will use it they are all over Google right now all you got to do is Google eBay phone number all the numbers that pop up called them though all the scammers posing as eBay to drain ypu and any account you have on the device. it truly is sad NEVER LET SOMEONE TALE OVER YOUR DEVICE PEOPLE BE SMART ask for information ask them something to verify about your account if they cannot verify it they are obviously scammers people need to question everything nowadays do not take anything as Stone everyone is out to scam an eBay just lets them get away with it

If eBay cared they would get their team of lawyers to start rounding these people up it's very simple you just Google eBay phone number you'll get thousands and they're all in other countries running this scam but of course eBay won't do that even though their billionaires they won't put any money into it their only goal is to make money off of you they don't want to have to spend all this money to track people down all around the world that are scamming you they could care less about you and that's why they are going to go downhill and end up extinct just like all the best recent buy and sell sites they all get infiltrated and this happens to every one of them loaded with scammers and eventually the scanning rate is in the 90% tile at that point their site is over all because they didn't want to take the time to spend the money to fix the problem they actually tried to get rid of the phone conversation so they can save money being Penny Pinchers will be the downfall of their visit they figure we don't have to pay people to answer phones and to deal with the customer support anymore we can do it all through messages now so they save all this money by not paying for these employees and put it on computers however that never fixes the problem so for them trying to be greedy this is what happens I am done using eBay I have spent thousands and thousands doing business with them not anymore and you can believe there's plenty more like me if people are posting on these sites about the same exact thing happening then it's happening to a lot of people that's a lot of customers eBay is going to lose a lot of customers that are going to be scared and skeptical to ever use eBay again taking away traffic taking away customer taking away business slowly will dwindle down to nothing if they don't get on this and fix it they could also contact Google and get all these fake scammer accounts link taken down so people don't get scammed but then again that would take some work from eBay and maybe a little money they are rich Jew **bleep** that don't care about you all they care about is their bankroll and if it means you got to get scammed in the process then oh well tough luck on you they could care less but it will affect them I remember when OfferUp was huge used to do so much business on there nowadays you go on their 99% scammers OfferUp has been down the drain I see that in the very formidable future with eBay all because they don't want to take phone calls anymore and pay phone operators to assist you they want to be cheap and try to save money and that will be their downfall
