On eBay.com in Edge browser, Window 10, on a PC, if I do a search for items, then click on an item from the search results, the item page opens in a new Edge tab. The search results page remains unchanged in the previous Edge tab. So there is not Back Arrow active on the Item page because it's the first page visited in that new tab.
Check your Edge settings, perhaps for preferences on whether links open in same tab vs. new tab. If not that, then perhaps there's a same tab / new tab setting in eBay related to your account.
If those don't work, check your computer thoroughly for all malware and spyware that could be affecting browser performance.
Also try the same functions in a different browser to see if it performs differently.
eBay does log me off more frequently than I'd like, but it's every few hours, not every few pages. This happens on eBay in both Edge and Chrome with different eBay accounts. eBay cookies are protected on my Chrome.
