eBay email system not working - Your recent message to was not delivered

For the last two weeks, many of my messages that I send through outlook are not delivered as I receive a eBay messages saying "Your recent message to was not delivered" 

Am simply clicking reply as I have been doing for years. I thought it might be due the the fact that I have a signature with my email and a company logo, but they are still not being delivered when I remove that. So I have been clicking the reply button which works, although one time I got a message when trying to send an email using the reply button, but it was rejected saying that I was trying to due business outside eBay etc. In fact, I tried to send this user a message with only the word "hello" and it was rejected! Seems like in eBays attempt to prevent circumventing eBay fees, they are in at least on occasion completely eliminating communication between eBay users. Probably another eBay glitch that will take years to fix.

I have in the exact same situation. for about 2 weeks, every message to an ebay member from outlook is coming back as 'your recent message not delivered.....".  i've been using MS outlook 25 years and it has worked fine. Something has changed inside ebay. I called and opened an ticket, but don't have much faith anything will come of it.  I found that sending from other email interfaces (such as webmail) work fine.   It seems to be specific to outlook. I send the exact same message inside ebay email and it works fine - to it is not content. MS outlook has not changed as I used a client on my PC - not the online version - and it has not changed in years - so my take is that ebay is not happy with an MS outlook setting, but no idea what that might be....  it is painful to have to use ebay mail although the recent updates are an improvement.

Yes, there is some issue with the eBay mail system. I just received a negative feedback from a buyer who said I did not respond to their message. I spoke on the phone with the person who confirmed that they send me a message and eBay refused to remove the feedback even though the buyer wanted it removed. In fact, it took maybe 2 minutes from the time I requested the feedback removal to when I got the rejection email so obviously automated and not actually looked at. And as you said, eBay will probably not even look at the ticket you submitted any more than they looked at my feedback revision request.

Can you reply to messages by going through your eBay Messages inbox rather than Outlook?

Sending Offers through the eBay messaging system does not work for me either.  Ebay told me they opened a ticket and it should be resolved in 2-3 days.  I get a white screen and it allows me to enter the Offer amount and fill in a message to the buyer but there is no send button to send the offer through email / messaging system.  This hurts sales and I talked to 3 different people and they told me they are working on it.

That feedback you received regarding the price difference you should be able to get removed, since the listing itself shows the item was $49.  But you need to act quickly before your window of opportunity disappears.

 

As for the other 2 more recent negs.  I don't see anything that would be cause to remove.  Sorry

 

First try the Automated version.  You will get a response within 24 hours and they likely will deny it, but it is the process Ebay wants us to use first.

 

So if that is denied, you contact Ebay directly.  Make sure you draw their attention to the price of the listing and the amount the buyer says they paid.  Ebay should remove it because what they have said conflicts with what the listing shows.

 

And you are absolutely correct.  Once an item is sold, the seller can't play with anything on that transaction related to pricing.

I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.

Your options will be on the left. If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options. Not all options are available 24/7. It will depend on staffing available. So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't. Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me. If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.

If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.

If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

I contacted eBay on the negative feedback where the person said I changed the price and the rep told me that they would likely remove it but they did not. eBay is not on the sellers side in just about every case.

First requested through the website then called so they could review which they did, rejected even though the feedback said I changed the price which is a lie/impossible

I can advise you, but it is up to you to use that advice or dismiss it.  We have helped many sellers through this process.  I wish you the best.

 

FYI, Ebay does not have a Call Center since the pandemic.  So IDK what number you called, but it very well could have been a bad number with bad advice.

I echo your comments - been selling 25 years also and using MS outlook 2010 desktop forever.  All of sudden no messages can be sent to any ebay user from outlook to the ebay user, again - which i've done for over 20 years.

I have several ebay accounts have confirmed that I can't send messages between those accounts via outlook or even Gmail.  I also opened a ticket a few weeks ago - did not expect a response and did not get one. 

This is painful and so inefficient to have to use Ebay email where before I could reply to any message from any account via Outlook.   I have not tried webmail, but will - but that really won't help.
