eBay Management and Community,
First of all, Happy New Year! Wishing all of you continued success and profitability in 2020.
While I have been a seller for nearly 10 years, 2019 has been nothing but extreme frustration and disappointment. My business is down more than 40% due to an IT glitch originating from a system upgrade that took place in late January 2019. I am a 69-year old retiree with eBay as my sole source of income intended to pay for my daily living expenses. Furthermore, I invested my life savings to build a store with over 2,500 high-quality items valued at $300,000. Due to an unfixed systems glitch and complete negligence, my livelihood has been destroyed by eBay. It is unbelievable that such large and respectable organization has an inferior IT department that can’t fix their own system error for nearly 1 year. Not only has IT department proven to be incompetent, but it is also impossible to reach them.
For the last 12 months, I have spoken to literally hundreds of customer service representatives and supervisors. I can share dozens and dozens of case numbers and names. I followed every single recommendation - refreshing, changing listings/titles, adding promotions. Unfortunately, these actions are simply a band aid on a serious system IT issue. I am top-rated plus Seller and many of my items went invisible overnight at the time of the system upgrade back in January 2019. Sales dropped off the cliff and never recovered. For your reference, I have attached quarterly sales information dating back to 2016.
Many customer service representatives confirmed the system glitch around January 2019 and lack of items visibility, but were not able to solve the issue.
In summary, my store has grown 35% over the last 2 years and sales have dropped dramatically by more than 40% in 2019 due to a programming/ IT/ system error. I barely receive any inquiries and it is obvious that my items are simply invisible or barely visible on the very last pages of searches (I am a top-rated Plus Seller!).
My situation feels desperate and hopeless. eBay's negligence has caused me to lose my livelihood despite spending many years building a successful store with top quality clothing and 100% positive feedback.
Please help!!!
