Hi everyone,
I know this isn’t the first post about this issue, but apparently, none of the solutions seem to work.
I was aware that some of our listings contained JavaScript in the description (mainly from LastPass).
Last week, I finally decided to clean this up and wrote a script to remove all scripts from our listing descriptions.
Now, out of nowhere, we’re getting JavaScript warnings on a bunch of our items, even though these items have no JavaScript anywhere.
I even tried to just keep raw text without any html and the issue is still there.
I can’t even share a link because these items are literally hidden from search due to this issue.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
I’m at a loss here. It would be great to speak to someone from the eBay team, but none of the contact options seem related to technical issues.

There are some tools available here for checking listings, though I have not used them extensively.
To check individual listings:
https://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/ActiveContentSandbox.htm
To check bulk listings:
https://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/ActiveContentEditor.htm

Thanks, I should have mentioned that I found these tools but it seems to have a DNS issue, I guess the tool needs an update.
I tried pasting the description in the tool and without any surprise, there is no active content. So far it seems like a bug. Unless the active content can be found in another field than the description.

Can you provide an item number from one of your listings that has been flagged so that I can see if I can run it through the sandbox?

Sure but I'm afraid you won't be able to see anything from these item ID:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/230993405832
https://www.ebay.com/itm/330837804917
https://www.ebay.com/itm/253766134587
Warning: This listing has a policy violation. It's hidden until you can fix it. (See email notice for more info.)
I do not have any email with these items ID.

I'm thinking maybe the eBay system has a crontask that run every so often (with a big interval) to check all the products and save a tag for each violation, but if it's the case you would expect the same check to be run again after each update. this whole thing just make no sense to me.

Here are the descriptions (only) for those listings, in case this helps.

I am still getting a DNS error, so it appears that the sandbox tool is not working any longer. Sorry about that.
You may have to manually check the html of those item descriptions to see if you can find any broken links that need to be removed.

I just wanted to hop on this thread as I am having the exact same issue as OP:
- listings hidden due to JavaScript policy violation
- individual listings scanned using https://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/ActiveContentSandbox.htm
- some listings actually had script and those were revised; most listings did not
- removed as much punctuation as possible from my descriptions
- wiped LastPass from my life
- went through this process on multiple browsers
Ebay still says I have a policy violation in my listings. I will post the HTML from a description below
<font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4">4 feet of copper shielding tape<br><br>2 inch wide tape, with conductive adhesive<font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"><font rwr="1" style="font-family:Arial" size="4"></font></font></font></font></font></font></font></font></font></font></font></font></font></font></font></font>
@eio-electronicinventoryonlinedid your issue ever get resolved?
TIA for any help!

You have an amazing amount of redundant html code there. There are sixteen separate pairs of font codes, most if not all of them appear to be identical, and there is no need for any of them, TBH.
Just delete everything except for the actual description text, which is the second highlight in the screenshot below. That should be a good start, at least. If that works, then you can try keeping a single set of font codes, which are the first and third highlights. (Everything that is NOT highlighted, is redundant.)
Going forward, it would be advisable to enter your descriptions as plain text, and use the eBay text editor to add formatting if you need it.

Did something change? The corporation I used to work at 5+ years ago banned all java use on their systems claiming security problems. It was considered insecure and shouldn't be used.
