Zip code invalid for Spain

At https://accountsettings.ebay.com/profile I'm trying to change my address from the old one in the UK to a new one in Spain. eBay doesn't let me do that, because it erroneously thinks my Spanish zip code is invalid. I'm 100% sure it is correct.spain-zip-code.png

Re: Zip code invalid for Spain

Hey velvet@ebay. You've let us know about some of the restrictions regarding address/country changes. Can you check if changing registration address from UK to Spain is one of those restrictions or if the OP's issue is unrelated?

They are currently registered in the UK while their account was originally created here on the .com site, not the .co.uk site.

Thanks for the tag @wastingtime101! Unfortunately, changing the country is not allowed under the payments process. If they want to sell on eBay they're going to need to create a new account so all of their information will match.

Re: Zip code invalid for Spain

Thanks velvet@ebay.

Are you a registered seller @ev-anderson or attempting to register as a seller, or is your account exclusively a buying account that has never gone through the seller registration process?

@wastingtime101

If you look at their feedback left, you can see that @ev-anderson has left a feedback for a buyer. It is shown as "More than a year ago", but I think it was within the last few years.

Re: Zip code invalid for Spain

@wastingtime101

I've sold things in the past from Spain, e.g. see listing ID #173333894054 from 2018.

Before 2018 I've used eBay for buying only (since 2005).

I haven't used eBay actively for at least two years.

I don't remember going through 'registering as a seller' procedure or whatsoever.

One important correction: in the first post I said that I was trying to change the UK address to another address in Spain. Actually I'm just trying to change the country, because all other fields (street name etc) are already filled correctly with my address in Spain, which I added in the past.

How is this possible? It looks like eBay or someone at eBay changed the country field of my address to "GB". I'm sure I couldn't have confused two countries when I added my address in the past.

Re: Zip code invalid for Spain

@ev-anderson,

Unfortunately, as velvet@ebay confirmed, since eBay started Managed Payments, it has not been possible to change the registered address on a selling account to a different country. I expect that, when you changed the address, it didn't accept the change to the country because of this.

I was not aware that this applied even if a seller had not registered for Managed Payments, but your experience would indicate that it does.

It's based on whichever comes first: a seller voluntarily opting in to MP or eBay giving the seller a deadline to switch over their account. If the OP attempted to change their address before that deadline came they would have been able to do so. But once eBay switches over your account, whether you've added payment info or not, you have an account that can't use any other form of payment management and it becomes too late to change the country of registration.

At this point I wouldn't even use the account for buying @ev-anderson since your country of registration is incorrect. There's a term within the user agreement about not having false contact info, so even though you could put in the Spain address as one of your shipping addresses for purchases, if the primary registered address is in the wrong country (and you don't have any relatives still at the old address) then it's not worth the mess that can potentially create.

Start fresh with a new account.

Thanks for the clarifications @wastingtime101 @lacemaker3

It is incredibly sad to see what eBay has become.
