Why is eBay’s signin on web and app so bad?

I need to look at my account, I signin and go through the 2FA thing. I then tell it to Trust my device, hopefully so I don’t have to go through this again.i then need to look at eBay messages. I have to log in again, I have to do 2FA again, I then ask it to trust again. In my recent session on eBay (yes, just one session), I have has to relogin and do 2FA etc 5 times, even when having ebay open in another tab in my browser.

Which idiot designed this system? Microsoft?

I could understand a few teething issues with anew system but eBay has been around for years. The 2FA system has been around for at least 2 years. Sort it out.

@ops-uk    you are in the UK, posting on the US board..........there may be issues in  the UK that aren't happening in the US, so may help if you post on the UK board.

My understanding is that UK users using the ebay.co.uk site are required to use 2FA.

Not sure if UK users are required to use 2FA when signing in to other country sites; if not, that might be worth pursuing.

Most other users are not required to use 2FA, as far as I know.

There are some other things that can affect how often users have to sign in or go through verification, like having a browser set to clear cookies on exit, using "cleaner" programs, using a VPN or a hotspot, or using certain kinds of privacy software.

Obviously if eBay detects suspicious account activity such as multiple simultaneous sign-ins from disparate locations, or attempts to change security settings from overseas, that can also lead to additional verification challenges as well, so if nothing you are doing is suspicious, perhaps someone else is attempting something suspicious with your account.
