(As first reported by @gloryglorygifts in the Selling forum)
I have a shipping confirmation message that I send to buyers after I'm back from the post office. (Just a couple of generic lines to let them know that their package has already gone out, and they can see its tracking via eBay.) Thus I don't write it out each time as a fresh message; I just copy-and-paste the thing from the last outbound message in which I used that text.
For the past couple of weeks or so, if I copied a prior message and pasted it into the new message window, every line comes up doubled, requiring a manual cleanup before hitting the Send button:
Thank you! Your package has already gone out. You should be receiving your USPS.com tracking number in your purchase details from eBay. Let me know if you have any questions!

I'll repost what I said on the other discussion, with hopes it will help someone.
Users have been reporting problems copying from an existing message with one buyer and pasting into a new message with a different buyer.
If you're constantly copy/pasting the same message, you should store it on a Notepad file PC or TextEdit file Mac (format to "plain text" in the menu options). Copy paste from that clean file, not from another message. That's best practice to avoid issues with all kinds of code being copied from rich text sources.
For whatever it's worth, as a buyer it annoys me when sellers send messages to say they shipped. eBay does that automatically and eBay includes the tracking number, too. I don't need my inbox filled with duplicate messages. My inbox is full enough as it is.
That said, if a seller has a reason to reach out - like maybe the package was delayed and they want to let me know they filed an inquiry with the carrier - that's fine.
Just throwing that opinion out there. Everybody has their own preferences so do what works for your business.
Anybody who wants to file a tech report that will be seen by eBay can click the ? icon on the bottom right of the page. It's fast, easy, and the product developers do review those reports.

Yes I been having the same issue as well and its very frustrating. Only on the ebay website this is happening. No where else. Tried using other browsers as well. Same issue. Something changed in their code as it does it in several different browsers.

If you have messages from members forwarded to your email, try copying and pasting text from the email rather than from the threaded message in eBay's message inbox.

Why not fix the issue that has worked since eBay became online? Yes that’s how I do it now but most of the time I am on a mobile device and it’s time consuming.

Presumably they regard it as low-priority (obviously it's not a showstopper, but it is an ongoing annoyance), and don't want to chase down the contractor who messed up the coding in the first place.
The error occurs in the copy stage rather than the paste stage, when it first attempts to store the highlighted text, and for whatever reason, it reads in each text string twice. (I'm thinking it stores both the original text and the highlighted version of the same text from two different buffers, but I'm just guessing.)
devon@ebay , can we at least get the ALERT number for this problem, in order to make later followups easier? This would be useful to bring up at the upcoming eBay event.

Hey @a_c_green! I am not seeing any tickets open for the issue being described here. If there is one, I will be sure to share it.

Yeah, this has been going on for a few months now. I know it was reported in the tech threads a few times as well.
I have gone to copying my message templates from a notepad file to prevent it.
BTW, devon@ebay you did post in that thread.

Hi, thanks devon@ebay , yes, I had a feeling that one has not been created yet.

Yes, please. And if there is not one, please create a case for it and let us know what the number is. Thanks again.
