I got screwed over pretty good as a seller. I had 5 auctions up which all contained several unbuilt car model kits. A single buyer was high bidder for all 5. I invoiced him and he paid. There was no way that all 56 models would fit into a single box. So when I tried to print multiple postage, eBay wouldn't allow it. There were 5 boxes of different sizes and I wanted to print a 1 or 5, 2 of 5, and so on. Not allowed. I ended up cancelling it. So I returned payment to buyer, got charged listing fees, and will be receiving a 1099 for the amount which I'll be taxed on, which I didn't keep. Makes me want to look for alternate ways to sell my stuff...

I also get where a buyer will buy more than one item from me. I had a buyer with 60+ lots(stamps)...I used a box which I usually never have to do....got great feedback for shipping...shipped free at my expense and delivered in 3 days time on this month. I don't like it either when someone buys so many.items from me. But I want to sell. But you have to think outside the box....on how to ship everything. And guess what?...buyer bought more from meths month. Not as many...happy at that. But now a repeat buyer.
You should have shipped them another way other than eBay shipping labels. I use USPS.
You had a good sale...cancel it...and it cost you money...ouch.

You can buy up to 5 shipping labels for each order.

I would have spoke with eBay before I cancelled the sale. They may have been able to guide you.
Is it still possible to salvage the sale? You could have purchased five labels from Pirate Ship and enter a Tracking Number for each separate order into the eBay system.

This loss is a deduction on your taxes just as your cost of goods, eBay fees, shipping costs, packaging material, mileage to the post office…

I tried everything you suggested. Do you have any idea how large the box would need to be to contain 56 revel car model kit boxes? I made several inquires and the shipping would be astronomical. But the work around is - I just post 1 auction at a time. I'm not an eBay pro seller or anything like that. Just a dumb helicopter pilot who fights wild land fires, and occasionally sells off excess stuff. Thanks

Never saw that option. And for someone who occasionally sells on eBay, I couldn't figure out how to do it. But the work around is - I just post 1 auction at a time. @rs327 you had 9 auctions........you didn't have to combine them into one box.......you should have boxed/mailed each one separately even tho the same buyer bought all....... Since you COULDN"T combine all into one box, you shouldn't have invoiced them together.......and if the buyer questioned you about combining shipping you could have said that it couldn't be done because of the bulk involved. You have weight/space limitations in a helicopter and same thing is true of mail....
you aren't dumb.........by any means, but ebay can take some learning..........you learned to fly a helicopter........but I'll bet there was a lot more learning to fly it to fight wild fires......you have my admiration......

Thanks, but what I keep trying to tell you is that I never had the option to invoice each one individually. eBay automatically lumped them all together, and I couldn't change it. I really appreciate the help and advice, but this isn't my main job. I found a work around, and I'm OK with it. And in addition I will be going to a hobby show and swap meet in 2 weeks, where I can sell tons of these kits. And the best thing: no eBay cut, no taxes, no shipping, no 1099. All cash! Lol!
