Welcome back "server errors"...NOT

For the past 2+ years, "server errors", "system failures" and "It's not you it's us" have been a daily situation on ebay. Then the first half of June something changed and my sales jumped back up to 70+ items a day, no errors or failures and life was good again.

Then that Thursday night maintenance almost 2 weeks ago, server errors and system failures have returned and my sales have fallen back again. Just typing this being I cannot even get into my Seller Hub right now because "It's Not You It's Us" server failure will not let me in.

Will this ever be totally fixed? I just wish ebay would answer that question instead of not letting us know what is going on. (I did hear a top programmer recently quit also, not sure how tru that is). With that window of 15 days of near perfection again, I know the fix is there I just wish ebay would hurry up or at least tell up and the reps when talk to what is going on, in real time.

The only way you're going to encounter this directly is if you search for something from day to day and get presented with dramatically different results

Can you provide an example of a search that gives you dramatically different results from day to day? Or, if you do not have an example handy, the next time you encounter such a search, could you provide a link, along with some quick details of what the search was showing previously?

eBay does make changes to the way search works from time to time, and I have encountered searches that provide differing results over time. Most folks that perform regular searches have encountered that at one time or another, I would think.

Sometimes this is due to a change in the way that something like the "Price plus shipping: lowest first" sort works; lately the filtering that sort performs is much more pronounced, and the link to "See more results" is sometimes absent.

Sometimes eBay changes categories around; this can affect older bookmarked or saved searches quite a bit once the changes take effect. Some searches need to be redone completely to be effective once again. This is disruptive to buyers that are searching, and sellers that are listing and providing item-specifics, but somehow I do not think this is what you or the original poster had in mind. Correct me if I am wrong.

eBay also changes keyword associations -- the various synonyms and spelling corrections that are offered when a user searches using a particular keyword. These can cause wildly differing search results, but only for those particular keywords involved. For one summer there was an issue with keyword associations in the Toys & Collectibles category that caused any character name to be considered a valid substitute for any other character. For anyone using any sort order other than Best Match, searching that category was challenging until that was fixed.

This should give you an idea of the sort of things I, a mere buyer, notice regarding eBay's search.

The OP told you to go watch his videos. There are tons of videos you can find on youtube demonstrating these exact problems. We don't need to prove anything to you.

You do not need to prove anything to me. But which "exact problems" are you each referring to?

You say "everyone IS experiencing it". I am still just trying to figure out what "it" is.

This seems like a good place to discuss technical issues regarding eBay. So lets discuss.

Well, I've had two of the errors within the last 5 minutes.

One happened when all I tried to do was flag a message.

The next one happened when I tried to save a search page for tomorrow.

Time to close up shop, feed the animals, and fix supper.

If I could mute you,  I would... instead I'll just ignore as everyone else has done.
