Two-Column View Item Page Test - Variation Photo Issue

The two-column view item page test has an issue with displaying the correct photo when using the drop-down list to make a selection. The first 24 selections, or so, in the drop-down list show the correct photos. Once I get to about the 25th selection in the drop-down list the photo displayed is the 2nd photo from the previous available selection in the drop-down list.

I am seeing this issue on all my variation listings with more than 20 choices in the drop-down list

It happens when you try to select Mtn Dew which instead of showing you the first image for Mtn Dew shows you the last image for the previous variation Energy Drink #6c Pink and the variation selection won't stick with Mtn Dew, it instead goes to Energy Drink #6c Pink

Mtn Dew is the 21st variation in the listing and the 41st variation photo in the listing.

It happens when you try to select Energy Drink #5 Silver/Orange which instead of showing you the first image for that variation it shows you the last image for the previous variation Energy Drink #4 Peach/Silver. Just like the other item, the variation selection won't stick with Energy Drink #5.

Energy Drink #5 is the 19th variation in the listing and the 37th variation photo in the listing.

Same as what mcdougle said, it's only happening on the 2 column layout, not the 3 column layout.

When you posted your issue, I systematically captured screenshots of all of your variation photos and then stepped through each of your variations to make sure they matched. They did. For some reason, I don't have the new test view, but your items did match perfectly in the original layout. Then my power went out and all was lost.  😞

Since we had this problem before, and it was a "modulo" problem, I'm not surprised that it has appeared again. Because you see it at 24, and at 24-1, I would assume it may be related to eBay's 24 photos per listing and that we are dealing with a simple math problem.

Now I'm seeing with that listing the problem no longer starts with Mtn Dew. It instead starts with Sprite - the 26th variation and the 51st variation photo in the listing.

I initially thought the same @shipscript and even linked to the last problem above, but @mcdougle4248 was approximating when she said it was happening with the 25th variation.

I did exact counting to check and so far I'm seeing no consistency in # of variation or variation photo when the problem begins. With my latest test on one of the same listings, the variation affected when the problem begins changed from a couple of days ago and none of the variations above it sold out in that time so that's not a factor.

Another point of interest in addition to what I just posted (quoted text) kyle@ebay , is when I hover over thumbnails on the left and the main photo changes, that works smoothly until I hit the problem area. Then scrolling over those thumbnails and even clicking on those thumbnails is not necessarily taking me to the correct photo.

Example:

Hover over photo 1 for Sparkling ICE shows me the correct image.

Hover over photo 2 for Sparkling ICE does not change the image shown, it's stuck on photo 1.

Hover over photo 1 for Sprite shows me photo 2 for Sparkling ICE.

Hover over photo 2 for Sprite shows me photo 1 for Sprite.

Hover over photo 1 for V-8 Vegetable Juice shows me photo 2 for Sprite.

To reiterate: if I select the Sprite variation from the drop-down, photo shown is photo 2 for Sparkling ICE and variation selection changes from Sprite to Sparkling ICE even though I selected Sprite.

If I select Sparkling ICE from the drop-down it correctly shows me photo 1 for Sparkling ICE and variation selection stays with Sparkling ICE.
