The link using https://www. to take you to ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/setting-changing-automatic-payment-method/updating-bank-account-details-payouts?id=4796 doesn't work. It doesn't say it's an error or page can't be found but it takes you to a list of servers. What is that all about? I've used that link literally dozens of times to help sellers update or add their checking account and today it's screwed up.

This link is still working for me (see the screenshot below):
Although I had to go to Edge to get it to work. I normally use Firefox for the eBay Community, but Firefox kept redirecting me to the same page on eBay Canada.
If you are being redirected, try using this link. I just got this to work for me on Firefox. It blocks redirects:
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/setting-changing-automatic-payment-method/updating-checking-account-details-payouts?id=4796//&rdir=no

Why is eBay redirecting me to the eBay Canada help pages, when I type in or click on the link for the eBay USA help pages?
I assume this has to do with my registered address on this account, which is in Canada. Never-the-less, if I am logged in to eBay USA and I want to go to the eBay USA help pages, then I don't want to be redirected to another eBay website. That is intrusive and presumptuous, and NOT helpful in any way.
Will you please investigate this, and let the appropriate team know that this is a mistake, and needs to be changed back.
This just began very recently, It is only happening on this account, which has a registered address in Canada, and for which I use the Firefox browser.

@lacemaker3 sorry for the late response. Is this still an issue for you? Can you share the link that's redirecting you to Canada eBay pages?
10-17-2022 02:49 PM
sheila@ebay, yes, this is still an issue.
The link that is redirecting to eBay Canada help pages is the first one in my post #2 on this thread.
I'll repeat the link here:
I just tried it again, and even though I am logged in to the eBay USA community (and NOT logged in to eBay Canada) that link is redirected to the eBay Canada help page instead of the USA page that is specified in the link.

So weird! It redirects to a US page for me. I need to think about who I should ask about this and will circle back soon.

If it's going to an eBay USA help page, then it's not redirecting for you at all, it's doing what it should be doing.
I suspect this has to do with the fact that my registration address is in Canada.

Hi @lacemaker3. This does appear to be working as designed. Our system sees what site the user is logged into, and directs them to that help page to ensure they have the most accurate information tailored to their account. You can log out of your account, or go into an incognito window (Google Chrome + CTRL+SHIFT+N) and access the US page on the different browser. We'll be sure to pass this along as an enhancement request, and appreciate you letting us know.

Hi elizabeth@ebay ,
I'm sorry, but you have completely misunderstood the situation. That is definitely not what happened.
I was logged on to eBay.com, (and NOT logged on to eBay.ca), when I was redirected to the eBay help page on eBay.ca.
I double checked, to make sure I didn't have a persistent cookie or something that had logged me onto eBay Canada automatically. Nope. I was not logged in to eBay Canada.

Good morning @lacemaker3! My apologies for any misunderstanding. To clarify, were you actually logged into your CA account?
10-18-2022 09:42 AM
Yes, I was logged into eBay.com, using the same account as I am posting with, which has a registration address in Canada. I was not logged in to eBay.ca.

Thanks for the clarification @lacemaker3. The way our help pages are designed, is to show you the most relevant information based off your site ID. Even though you're on eBay.com, your account's site ID is based out of .ca, so our system will reroute you to the .ca help pages. There are times where you may look at our help pages on .com and the system will not reroute you to .ca as there may not be more relevant information on that site. You'll want to be signed out of your account or on an incognito browser to successfully view the .com help pages.

I understand that this is the intended behavior, but the intended behavior is not helpful, logical, or acceptable.
If I want to see the eBay Canada help pages, then I will use the appropriate URL, or I will log on to eBay Canada and search for the help pages from there.
If I am logged in to eBay USA, and use the URL for the eBay USA help pages, then I expect to be able to see the eBay USA help pages. This is not open for debate.
Please tell the appropriate team that they have made a mistake, and it needs to be fixed ASAP. Inappropriate redirects are not acceptable; they are confusing and ineffective. eBay programmers should not assume that eBay sellers have the mental age of 6-year-olds. Most of us are far more developed than that, and we are quite capable of figuring out which eBay site we are on. I can't speak for the programmers themselves, of course.
And I already have a better workaround that using an incognito browser, as I already posted.

@femmefan1946, @sin-n-dex , @pjcdn2005 ,
Have any of you encountered this issue, where eBay USA help pages are redirected to the same page on eBay Canada, just because your registered address is in Canada?
Does this affect other eBay help pages as well?
Are there any other regular responders who might be in the same situation because their registered address is in Canada?

My phone does that (it asks me first, but assumes I want to be on the .ca site). The eBay app gives me issues as well.
I never noticed this on a desktop computer though.
