they say all the changes/tech problems  some are tests

Tests? experiment ? guinea pig ? social experiment ?

is this what going on? with the ( the latest see other items change) 10 changes/tech problems they are sorry for but haven't exactly said what they are sorry for, and the missing photos

they say only affects some people,they mention tests sometimes.

I DO NOT WANT ANY SUCH TESTS,THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Most of what we are seeing lately are either flat out bugs or poorly coded changes.  They do run unannounced tests, but lately it's just been a completely failed IT quality control issue.

The "See Other Items" change looks to be a deliberate change that was not tested at all.  I could be wrong, but with the associated listing page change only showing the "See Store" or "See other listings" as appropriate puts this in the poorly implemented/tested code change.

The lost images is flat out a total failure of eBay's tech team, top to bottom, a total **bleep** on all sellers that choose to use GTC listings.

In addition to what dtexley3 says...Think about it. To get feedback about changes or 'improvements', IT has only a couple of methods available.

.

1) Internal testing. This is where most errors should show up. but it is very difficult to create a testing environment that covers all users, listing methods, payment methods, etc. eBay is very diverse.

2) An alpha test. Here only a limited number of users take part in the test. This has similar issues as 1).

3) A Beta test. Here the changes are rolled into production to a subset of users. If they announce it, Customer Service will be flooded with calls to be removed from the test. If they do not announce it, where do you think they are going to hear about the results of the tests? There will be calls to Customer Service, but mostly, they are going to look...wait for it...the eBay Community!

Where else can they get feedback, but from community members who are posting on the community. Many here are long time members and will run the changes through the mill trying to get accurate results, then post those results/work arounds.

Now, I did not say that only community members were used as testers, or GPs. And I personally do not resent being part of testing. I just wish they would give Customer Service more info about the testing and give them a 'script' to help with any likely issues. It can sometimes take days before members here can identify the issue, and find steps to help deal with them.

I think they're using their programmers for Milgram experiments, seeing how much pain they'll inflict on sellers before quitting.

All this has one thing in common,they are all sneaky malicious changes.
Could be anything from political motives,purging sellers,making room for more sponsored items,targeting minorities & disabled.(they had a diversity surveys found it very odd) or sabotage (a crime that a case could be made by fair minded people)
Little to none that they are doing that is benefiting sellers in a booming economy,
Very hard to believe they can't find good tech help in California.

they aren't hiring coders in calif.  they are coming from india perhaps.  i think their architects are in calif and have little contact with the coders.  that may be the source of many of their coding problems.

Currently they are hiring and training about 45 to 50 cs in utah for the 4% spanking that is coming in sept for many sellers.  imho that does not bode well.  they anticipate many problems/complaints will be associated with the coming spankings.
