When I view an item,it is not formatted correctly. Everything is shifted to the left and it shows page formatting characters. Did I change some setting that caused this ?

If the odd formatting persists after restarting the browser, try viewing the same page in a private or incognito browser window, or another browser. If the formatting looks normal in the other browser window, go back to your original browser and try deleting your cache and eBay cookies.
If the formatting looks odd in different browsers, then either eBay has broken their formatting, or your computer has changed some of your default settings; consider a reboot and perhaps a disk check. If multiple computers show the same thing, likely the problem is on eBay's end.

You should have only cleared cookies and cache entries and maybe active logins, at least to start with.
NOT passwords, Form & Search History, Site Preferences, Offline Website Data, or other similar data stores 🙂
(those are Firefox options - specifics will vary with other browsers)

As berserkerplanet says, as long as you did not specifically delete your saved logins, passwords and other form data, your browser should still have all that info saved -- but you will still likely have to sign in to each session again if it uses cookies to keep track of that.
It is possible to delete only the eBay cookies; in Firefox right below the "clear data" is "manage data" where you can search for every cookie that has "ebay" in the name and delete them selectively. Other browsers should have something similar.
