In my watchlist, the item ends in 6m35s. But when I click the item, it shows the red "Ended" while the "Place Bid" button is still active and the message "It is ending soon, so bid now before you miss out!" at the top. The timer displayed on the auction page ended much earlier than the actual auction ending time. Please check the video:

If your auction countdown is not behaving correctly, check to make sure your computer's time and time zone are set correctly, and the date and time are synchronized with an internet time server such as time.windows.com or time.nist.gov.
Check your computer's time here to see if it is fast or slow:

Why does Ebay's auction countdown relies on user's computer time, which could be different for different users. Why not using the server time which is unique (and correct) for all users?

Excellent questions which I cannot answer. Apparently eBay changed something about a year ago, and now the user's computer time being correct is critical to the operation of the countdown timer.
