Sign In often fails on the first try

I think this is a technical glitch. The sign-in does not always work on the first try. It always works on the second try. I type in exactly the same password both times. I never have to do it three times unless there is a genuine typo.

This has been going on for months. I have noted that other things require passwords, such as bank web-pages or even Paypal do not have this problem.

I am not a programmer so my guess is that of an amateur. It could have something to do with what I would call "screen flutter," i.e. the page looks like it is loaded, but is not, and is still shifting up and down a little bit.

Re: Sign In often fails on the first try

Based only on wild guessing, I'm leaning towards it being a lame attempt at an anti-bot defense.

There is what I'm pretty sure is an anti-bot framework being used on login pages. In the browsers where I block that framework, I NEVER have any login problems. In the ones where I don't block it (new temporary browser instances for testing things) or have temporarily disables the HOSTS file and Adblock Plus rules, it happens.

Guessing that the (incorrect) idea is that bots won't try again after a failure, where a human will.

Once again, only a weak theory.

Try blocking some or all of the things outlined below (I have all those things along with many others blocked and eBay works just fine):

@darrellschweitzer_pa

You have to wait until the page is almost entirely loaded BEFORE logging in or it won't work.  Until you see the tiny "or" slide up the divider between the left and right halves, clicking the login button will fail every time.  If you wait those additional seconds it will work.
