I changed my password but it's not working, can't log into my account or change my password again.

I tried to change my password so I don't have to use my Facebook account to log into ebay, but it will not let me log in with the new password.  I tried both, my user ID and my email address, with the new password, but it did not work.  I then logged in with Facebook and tried changing the password again, but it said that the old password I entered did not match.  I tried both, the new password and my old Facebook password.

I don't know what happened, but after over 30 minutes of trying to get this to work, I decided to call ebay, and then, all of a sudden, it started working.

@markf_37

For some reason, some users seem to be having ongoing problems with the latest version of the sign in page (the one with the Facebook option).

Here is an older version of the sign in page that seems to work more consistently for some:

https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

If that link works better for you, keep that page bookmarked.

I was trying to log into a different instance of FF3.6.24 I never use for eBay to test something, and had to try 5 times using the same username and password to get it to stop erroring out with "oops. that's not a match". 5th attempt it logged me in just fine.

Starting again to suspect it might have something to do with that Roboradar or other anti-bot things discussed long ago. That browser did not have NoScript and Adblock rules in place to block that junk, and not sure if HOSTS neutered it, but it may be that the idea is that bots will give up trying the same username/password combo when told it failed, but a hooman might try again and again ("trying same thing over and over expecting a different outcome - definition of insanity").

If so, really poor technique and bad UI design.
